  1. Garrett Hart, former president of Paramount television who was ENT's staunch ally and who pushed UPN to actually advertise it, was "reassigned" by Leslie Moonves of CBS now that CBS and UPN/Paramount TV have merged productions. It's the worst thing that could have happened for those who want ENT to have a future past season four......unless it draws 12 million viewers an episode on Fridays. Not even the X-Files drew that many on a consistent basis when it was at its most popular. The bottom line is that more reality television is on the way. Amish in the City has bigger priority.; So--the ENT project is at it again trying to publish a few articles and announcements like they did with the Hollywood Reporter twice last year--an act which may have caused Paramount to take notice and lower the license fee for this year because they were made aware of a devoted fanbase. Now that Manny Coto is in charge and ENT is actually being run day to day by someone who loved TOS and wants ENT to legitimately tie in to the classic series it seems a shame that ENT is being cut off at the knees like this when it shows so much promise. The following is what the ENT project is planning for this year. If UPN doesn't care--and it doesn't--perhaps Scifi, Spike, or some suit who schedules syndication packages will notice. I could only donate $20 since I made a huge donation to the Red Cross relief fund for the hurricane victims but every little bit helps. It's your choice, of course.

Fall Project, 2004 - press release

    September 1, 2004

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

    CONTACT: mlrqe@yahoo.com or info@enterpriseproject.org

Fans of Star Trek: Enterprise Comprehensive Fall Project

Under the sponsorship of The Enterprise Project, the ever-increasing number of Enterprise fans are undertaking an ambitious campaign in support of the latest Star Trek series. Contributions from hundreds of individual Enterprise fans as well as over forty internet groups devoted to the show will be ear-marked to publish an ad in the Hollywood Reporter on the date of the series premiere, Friday, October 8, 2004. The full page ad, the group’s fifth in support of the show,

will welcome back the cast and crew of Enterprise, congratulate them on their fourth season premiere and extend the fans’ best wishes for what promises to be an auspicious and successful new season of shows.

Contributors may elect to have their names appear in the signature section of the Reporter ad at the following minimum rates:

    Individual name - $30.00

    Group name - $75.00

Group name plus link to group website on the special Enterprise promotion page at www.enterpriseproject.org/ - $200.00

The second goal of the campaign will extend fundraising to cover an affordable program of national advertising. In cooperation with campusclients.com, Enterprise Project will design and print 1000 attractive Enterprise promotional posters and distribute them to ten of the most populous university campuses that are well recognized for their science, technology and engineering programs. Posters will be concentrated in student unions, quads, dormitories and other areas of the campus where large numbers of students gather. In addition campusclients.com will provide a free click through link on their college newspaper site that will redirect viewers to a specially designed Enterprise promotional page on The Enterprise Project site. The fan groups plan to have this section of the project in place for the beginning of November sweeps.

Total cost for the combined arms of the project amounts to $6000.00. Deadline for contributions to the Hollywood Reporter ad is September 30, 2004. The Campus Poster project deadline will extend for two more weeks to October 14. Any funds collected in excess of the goals will be donated to The AIDS Service Center in Los Angeles. Art work, graphics and web design will be created by individual fans who will donate their talents and efforts to the project.

  2. Yes, the numbers look low but it's not unusual for a rerun on a Friday night with zippo promotion. Viewership has actually been on the increase on Fridays. You never know, folks. You never know. MvRojo actually seemed optimistic and he's usually quite the pessimist. Fast nationals are usually in sync with the final numbers--unlike overnights, so this is encouraging.

Here's the snippet from MvRojo's thread. It's worth noting that the final numbers often tick up just a little from the fast nationals.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

After tying the series low houshold ratings and near the series low in viewers and adults 18-49, the second episode to air in the Friday timeslot did decent numbers.

According to fast nationals, "Damage" lifted the show to 5th in the hour in households, viewers, and the adult demographic, ahead of the WB comedies.

    HH: 1.3/2

    Viewers: 1.82 million

    A18-49: 0.7/2

It was the highest viewership in 4 weeks and the 4th highest viewed rerun since the season finale, which includes 16 airings in three different timeslots (W @ 8, W @ 9, and F @ 8 ). The episode also tied an rerun of "North Star" as the second highest household rating since the season ended. It was also the second highest Adults 18-49 rating. Note that these are the fast nationals and could change once the final ratings are released.

Don't give up yet, Jolene, you pessimist. :naughty::naughty: Her attitude is very frustrating to me.

  3. Sheesh. They need to get a handle on the actors being so negative about the show's chances to the press. Dom Keating did the same thing at a con. How many potential new viewers here and there won't give the show a chance if they don't think it will make it? I'm sorry, but it really irks me all to hell when the actors do that. And why is everybody so quick to report it? :naughty:

As a matter of fact, ENT's numbers held steady last Friday. The almighty "youth demographic" actually scored as highly as the episode of "Amish in the City." People at the big BBS were quite happy about that. MvRojo, the self appointed ratings guru who keeps track of weekly ratings during the first run season, said that it was quite an encouraging trend for a Friday night at least. If ENT's numbers hold steady on Fridays and UPN actually gets 3 to 4 million viewers a week on Fridays, Paramount may well think it's worth it to lower the licensing for one more season so that fresh Trek can be on the air for the 40th anniversary in 2006, which would mark the end of season five. UPN doesn't get squat for ratings with movie reruns on Fridays.

Don't count ENT out with Coto at the helm and Judith and Garfield Reese-Stephens as story editors. What pisses me off is that they weren't actively sought two seasons ago. :naughty:

  4. Actually, some of my friends who also watch Stargate say its really showing its age this season and gettting deathly repetitive. I saw the Atlantis premiere. I didn't care for it at all. I am surprised that Sci-fi replaced Farscape with it. I finally saw some Farscape DVD's in the proper order, and though it's a little too weird for my tastes sometimes at least I can see where people are coming from on it.

Season four is going to be anything but a showcase for Trip and T'Pol to the exclusion of everything else. However, when did relationships become such a dirty word? They're part of the human condition, too. Especially when its the first interspecies relationship of its time period. Very topical for Trek I would think. But as I said, that's hardly the only game in town.

    Click for Spoiler:

Vulcan civil war with Romulan infiltration in the spring, anyone? Brent Spiner as the great grandfather of Dr. Soong who is willing to exploit Earth's remaining fear about the issues of the eugenics wars, anyone?

  5. I hope the Trip/T'Pol thing continues,

It does.....with a few curveballs here and there. Like I said, if Jolene does her job she can say what she wants. People continuing to push for improved writing isn't a bad thing. I find it mighty odd that she doesn't appreciate the opposites attract dynamic (you remember Spock's human mommy, Jolene?) but at the end of the day, who gives a turkey if she does or doesn't if she puts in her best effort? Jolene would prefer no romance for her character. It isn't just Trip, UH. It's with Archer, too. She seems happier with Manny's scripts. I'll deal. I just can't wait to see how "Home" is resolved considering the fact that....

    Click for Spoiler:

Koss, her former intended whom 'outside influences' are trying to force her to marry, is reported to have at least one more appearance. Will Manny shake up the status quo by having her marry Koss out of obligation because the Vulcan ministry is harassing her mother? Word on the spoiler list is he might. The spoiler fairies insist that she does marry someone. Trip might be a tad bitter after that, no? Maybe Koss buys it in the upcoming Vulcan civil conflict. Who knows? The fact that "Romulan influences" have infiltrated may make this Koss thing a bigger story than it appears at first. Jolene does seem pretty happy with it so far. Some of the Trip/T'Polers in my group are aghast at the thought that she might marry someone else but frankly, as long as it's not Archer (thus pitting the two friends in some awful triangle) I think it could make for a fascinating story. In the script Trip finds out what T'Pol and T'Las will be subjected to if she marries a human and doesn't toe the line. Could be a vehicle for him to come to appreciate her sense of duty and responsibilty in a way he has never done before. Just because she gets married to someone she doesn't want doesn't mean her and Trip's feelings will shut off automatically.

  6. UnicornHunter, I realize it's reads pretty insulting on paper, but I have seen Jolene interviews wherein she said bascially the same thing about Trip but she was joking and giggling. The cast has been known to insult each other like that. Dominic got some flak at the Tulsa con my friend attended (I remember because she was MAD at him) because he was laughing about the cast calling Linda a "little Korean boy with no boobs" with that sexy boy haircut of hers. A lot of people got on to him but he was joking--apparently he was very taken aback that they got angry. Jolene's words read bad in print, but it's not as bad as it sounds. If anything she has a more inflated opinion of her character than is deserved. No matter at the end of the day. I remember reading an interview with her in Sci-fi wire last year at this time saying flat out that a romance between her character and Captain Archer is something the writers shouldn't do as it wouldn't be best for anyone or anyting. Jolene's definitely not a "shipper." <_< It's not just Trip. It's all the characters. It's nothing to get upset about.

Jolene isn't a very PC interview. More often than not she comes across as the giggly, ditzy type. I tend not to take her very seriously no matter what she's saying. The girl didn't have enough smarts to object to "Bounty," did she? I was taken aback at firt, but then I thought.....this is Jolene. Her first appearance on Kilborn was pretty infamous in that regard. I thought the girl had been smoking a little weed in the green room because she giggled nonstop and laid across Craig's desk. A silly woman.

My point is that I wouldn't sweat it much. She and Connor do like each other a great deal. Jolene just wants better writing to bring the romance about, for it not to come out of the blue. She didn't care for the drug addiction storyline but it's worth pointing out she didn't start huffing and puffing like a diva and refuse to come to work. She did a wail of a job with a storyline she didn't like. She's quoted as saying she's majorly happy with the way Manny is writing scripts for season four....and I know for a fact that Trip and T'Pol's interest in one another is continuing because I'm on the spoiler list. These stories she likes, which means to me that they're probably building the character's strength back up. So now she's copacetic with the romance I guess. At the end of the day if she does her job, does it matter? I don't give a turkey whether she liked the drug addiction or not. I did. My opinion matters most to me. Trinneer is also quoted (the next day no less) as saying he'd like their relationship to evolve or drop it. He says he enjoys the dynamic but didn't like at all that the characters were allowed to have sex and not deal with it, that it was "the gorilla in the room." That for them to get laid so soon without dealing with it didn't ring true to him. Is he a bad guy for saying that? Not at all. He just wants it handled in a realistic manner or don't make the effort. All reports are that the cast is happy with Manny's overall plan.

So everything's cool. I'm a Trip/T'Pol fan and I'm happy. Don't let Jolene's poor choice of words get you down.

  7. Well, so do James Carville and Mary Matalin and they get along. Trip and T'Pol have more in common than good looks. They're both interested in science. They are both passionately loyal to their friends, one Jonathan Archer in particular. They both have strength of character and courage. Loyalty is an extraordinary trait--one which Trip and T'Pol share. They helped one another through a crisis. That helps people to bond. It's not so crazy. Carville and Matalin have less in common. Trust me.

  8. Trinneergirl, you worry too much. Trip is not going to be pushed down as a character. I have access to some specific spoilers from "Home" and Trip comes out like a sweetheart. Oh and in case anyone's interested

T'Pol does marry Koss. At least that's what my source swears will happen. It all ties in to a bigger government storyline. But Trip does tell T'Pol's mother that he loves her. He visits Vulcan with her at T'Pol's invitation. Also, though it's implied, Archer gets laid. The lucky woman is one Erika Hernandez, captain of the NX-02 to be. They do it on a mountain.

  9. I did it, and I'm poor.

Just a suggestion. It could help. Who knows?

  10. I agree 100% with Unicorn Hunter in that if I want cheap sexual relationships and unnecessary exposure of flesh (even if said relationship was at all tenable) I'd watch soaps - and I never do that. I will not even be looking at the video mentioned - it was all I could do to bother to watch the scenes that they are in together in in the first place - it is a waste of precious air time

There is one flash of "naughty" skin in that video. It's a shame you don't want to look at it. It's actually lovely. About 99% of it is with them fully clothed. If they hadn't had sex--once--would you still find it cheap? The characters really seem to be coming together in friendship and starting to care for each other. That's so terrible a thing? :( :flex::spock: You're entitled to your opinion of course, but on the whole it's been quite mild.

  11. I doubt Paramount or Chris Issak give a flying fig. No one is profiting monetarily from this. Do you know how many fan made videos are on the net from different series? There are two other versions of this video alone to "My Immortal" and I forgot the other song. RedFenix at BBs also made some videos of other characters.

    Is that you, Stewey?

  12. Whoops! So many people watched her video that she ran out of bandwidth. :dude: Hightee's going to ask the entstcommunity site to host it. She said they said yes so it should be back up within a day or two hopefully. You may or may not still be able to right click and download.

  13. You're quite welcome. :) I love the way Hightee incorporated that wonderful slow mo shot of Connor's hands in the shower dream on T'Pol's shoulders. Even my husband, who is straight as a heterosexual arrow, remarked that Connor has the most beautiful hands he's ever seen. Something about hands on shoulders. Mmmmmmm...... :flex:
