This isn't really a Musical Mood but I really like it so I'm posting it.

Artist: Buddy Jewell

Album: Buddy Jewell

Song: Sweet Southern Comfort

Lyrics:

A misty sunrise in my hometown,

Rows of cotton 'bout knee high.

Mrs. Baker down the dirt road,

Still got clothes out on the line.

Irwin Nichols, there with Judsley,

Playin' Chequers at the gin.

When I dream about the Southland,

This is where it all begins.

From Carolina down to Georgia,

Smell the Jasmine and Magnolia.

Sleepy sweet home, Alabama,

Roll Tide Roll.

Muddy water, Mississippi,

Blessed Graceland whispers to me.

Carry on, carry on:

Sweet southern comfort, carry on.

Catchin' catfish on the river;

Chasin' fireflies by the creek.

Kissin' Gary Williams' sister,

On the porch, homecoming week.

With rusted cars and weepin' willows,

Keepin' watch out in the yard.

Just a snapshot of downhome Dixie,

Could be anywhere you are,

In Carolina or in Georgia,

Open arms are waitin' for you.

Louisiana, Yellow Rose of,

San Antone.

Arkansas, Mississippi,

Old man river whispers to me:

Carry on, carry on:

Sweet southern comfort, carry on.

Instrumental break.

As I sit here I'm surrounded,

By these priceless memories.

I don't have to think about it:

Theres no place I'd rather be.

Than Carolina or in Georgia,

Smell the Jasmine and Magnolia.

Sleepy sweet home, Alabama,

Roll Tide Roll.

Muddy water, Mississippi,

Blessed Graceland whispers to me.

Carry on, carry on:

Sweet southern comfort,

Carry on, carry on:

Sweet southern comfort, carry on.

Yeh, pretty good song. I'm not much into country, but Buddy Jewell was the guy who won his contract on Nashville Star, Country's version of American Idol.

I love this song! I'm not from the South or anything, but it gives me that warm, fuzzy feeling, anyway. It makes me wish I had a place like this I could call "home." ^-^;; I really like the sound of this song and the way the music flows. I especially like the banjo (that is a banjo... right?). The lyrics and the chorus especially just produce pictures in my mind that are vivid and hazy at the same time. I've also heard Buddy Jewel's song "Help Pour Out the Rain" on the radio, and I like this guy's music so far. ^-^

Yep, that's a banjo in there as well as an harmonica. I love to hear a well played banjo in a song. Not in an overbearing way but in the background where you almost can't tell it's there.

I agree with Hang. Its a nice song, but I normally don't listen to that type of music.

I love it! I do not much like country either, but since I recently moved from North Carolina, where I had lived all my life, to Kansas, I like any small reminder of home. Thanks, VBG.
