Please Help!

Recommended Posts

Ok. When I usually type a word in the address bar such as dog without www. or .com or anything it uses google to search for the word. But when I type it in now it goes to www.sirsearch.com.

I do not want this to happen!!!!! I want it to use google again!!!!!!

Please help. I want to know how to change it back.

  :) B) B) B) ;) B)

Even if you don't know how to change it back could you suggest a stress reliever?

This is really ticking me off.

Click on the search button at the top of your browser window.

It will open a search box on the left hand side of the window.

Click Customize at the top of the search box

Select use on search service

Choose Google from the list provided

Click ok

Close the search box

You should now be able to use google from the address bar.

If this does not work let me know there are a few other things that we can try. We are in my realm of specialty here. LOL B)

It doesn't have google in the customize thingy. Only MSN.

Okay,

Inside the Customize window

Click on the Autosearch Settings button in the lower left hand corner of the window

Then choose "Google Sites" from the first drop down window.

And make sure that the second window is set to Just display results in main window.

Then Click OK to exit the Autosearch Settings window

Then Click OK to exit the Customize Window

Then Close the search box

See if that works, if not let me know and we will try again.

give me a few minutes and I will put up some screenshots.

EDIT: Okay here are the screenshots. Let me know if this helps or not.

Give a couple of minutes for these to load they are really big, and they will distort the page size when you open the spoiler so that they are big enough to read.

Yeah, go ahead and email them to me and I will take a look so that I can see what you are seeing. And what version of Windows are you using?

Hmm that is really strange. I have problems before with my homepage. Not matter what I did, it would not work properly.. it would always change to some weird site. In the end I just reinstalled Internet Explorer. Another option you could try would be to edit the registry but I wouldn't recommend it unless you're an advanced user. I don't even mess with that thing!

Yeah, re installing Internet explorer is always a good bet. And messing with the registry can be REALLY bad if you don't know exactly what you are doing.

good bet:

download "Spyware" its a more through ad ware remover......on mine when Adware says "2 found" Spyware says "150 found"

do you mean Spybot?

Spybot can be downloaded here

SPYBOT SEARCH AND DESTROY

Just make sure that you use easy mode because advanced mode can be dangerous if not configured properly

Myself I use Adaware Pro, but I have a licensed version. (Got to love Kazaa) B)

Okay, I checked them. You will definitely need to re install Internet Explorer. You have gotten ahold of some spyware somewhere that cleared out the other settings. It is a pain but it happens.

Okay, I have never used that one. I will try it out when I get home to see how it works. I have always used Adaware or Spybot Search and Destroy and that is what we recommend to our customers. LOL
