Any fans of the original BSG?

Yeah I've heard that you hit on all women. Looks like you can be irritating in other ways too, congrats.

It's pretty sad when a guy hits on women from forums, because it's basically a tell-tale sign that he's fat, ugly, and very desperate in real life - meaning he can only communicate successfully with women when it's on an anonymous basis over teh internetz. Which is what he's doing now, apparently.

I have seen both shows. I can honestly say that I prefer Classic BSG substantially more than the watered down, politically correct new BSG that has so many fans woefully divided.

My fave character has always been Starbuck. He was cool, awesome pilot, loyal friend, and he got the girl(well, most times :cloud9: ).

The classic BSG did a wonderful job with the f/x available to it at the time it was filmed in the late 70's. Overall, it is in my honest opinion a better product because the stories were interesting and the character development was well defined. F/X are only a small part of the show and I found classic BSG's attempts all the more endearing. This new BSG, lacks the spark of the original. That could be the reason why it was re-cast in such a politically correct fashion. Imo, it was a big mistake to do this because many BSG have been alienated from the series.Since when do characters like Starbuck need to be 'trensformed' into women characters to create 'drama'? I always thought that the original Starbuck was dramatic to begin with  . Granted, I have seen a lot of the new eps, but for me there is nothing like the original BSG.

Whichever series you like, lets just agree to disagree. ;)

Look we all have one thing in common here we are all fans of Star Trek but as soon as we digress to other Sci fi it starts a arguement. Most of us who are older born before or in the early 80s grew up with the original BSG and it was great maybe not like some other sci fi but still good for it's time.

However the new BSG is not to a lot of peoples taste the sex changeing the cylons being able to look human (I preferred it when they were robots with the swaying red light.)

Now most of the younger generation may consider the plot lines cheesey but most people consider TOS to be cheesey as well yet we still love it.

now this forum was to discuss the old BSG can the old fans and the new fans just agree to disagree and lets talk about why we like the old BSG and stop all the fellow member bashing

A couple of posts have talked about the characters in the original series being too perfect or perfect, they were far from perfect. Adama had a temper but kept it under control for the most part but it did show at times. Starbuck drank (ambrosia), smoked (fumerellos) gambled (pyramid) cussed (frack and felgercarb) had a temper and was a womanizer (Athena and Cassiopeia for starters). Starbuck never did anything to deliberately hurt a person but it did happen and he did his best to make things right. Apollo cussed (frack and felgercarb) he had a bit of a temper and was rather headstrong. Cassiopeia started out as a socialator (escort/companion) and later became a medic.

They all had their flaws but used them to make themselves stronger for it, after all Trek told us that the darker side of our personality helps make us stronger if it is properly controlled.

There is one thing I never understood about the basic BSG plot.

The Cylons had a full empire. That means they had at least a couple dozen Baseships that could go light speed. They could easily overwhelm the human fleet even including the Pegasus.

The humans, however, are deep in Cylon space and are in slow-moving ships. Only the Battlestars are capable of light speed. Baltar also seems to know where the Galactica is at all times.

Why didn't the Cylons just throw everything they had at the human fleet and be done with them?
