Kor37 9 Posted December 23, 2005 The bandage was wound around the wound. The farm was used to produce produce. The dump was so full that it had to refuse more refuse We must polish the Polish furniture. He could lead if he would get the lead out. The soldier decided to desert his dessert in the desert. Since there is no time like the present, he thought it was time to present the present. A bass was painted on the head of the bass drum. When shot at, the dove dove into the bushes. I did not object to the object. The insurance was invalid for the invalid. There was a row among the oarsmen about how to row. They were too close to the door to close it. The buck does funny things when the does are present. A seamstress and a sewer fell down into a sewer line. To help with planting, the farmer taught his sow to sow. APW 0 Posted December 23, 2005 :) Exactly. My russian language teacher in high school spoke 5 languages fluently. She told me that of the foreign languages she'd learned (she was a Ukrainian) English was the most difficult by far. And she cited similar examples.
KIMIMELA 1 Posted December 23, 2005 Can I ask you all, if your native tongue isn't English/American, do you find it hard to type on an English/American speaking board? I understand German but I never visit German boards...
Mr.Picard 12 Posted December 23, 2005 It's a little harder for me than posting at a German message board, of course, it takes a little longer for me to finish typing my posts, but it's not that I have to keep a dictionary next to me all the time. :) Reading the board is the same to me as if this was a German board, though. I sometimes even find English more easy than German. :P :)

Validus 0 Posted January 8, 2006 (edited) English is hard to learn because it is derived from two language families rather then one (like most languages). The English we speak is derived from both Latin and Anglo-Saxon which is why English often has contradictory grammer and spelling rules.
