Why English Is So Hard To Learn

:) Exactly.

My russian language teacher in high school spoke 5 languages fluently. She told me that of the foreign languages she'd learned (she was a Ukrainian) English was the most difficult by far.

 

And she cited similar examples.

Can I ask you all, if your native tongue isn't English/American, do you find it hard to type on an English/American speaking board? I understand German but I never visit German boards...

It's a little harder for me than posting at a German message board, of course, it takes a little longer for me to finish typing my posts, but it's not that I have to keep a dictionary next to me all the time. :) Reading the board is the same to me as if this was a German board, though. I sometimes even find English more easy than German. :P :)

English is very dumb. That's why I invented Azukan.

 

Eing:lish is ver:e dum. That is why I in:vent:ed Az:zuk:can.

I took a few German classes in High School and College, and yeah, I prefere reading English too. Those huge compound words screw me up.

English is hard to learn because it is derived from two language families rather then one (like most languages). The English we speak is derived from both Latin and Anglo-Saxon which is why English often has contradictory grammer and spelling rules.
