I don't remember the exact quote but one of my favorite lines from TNG was when Data was trying to understand women and asking people for advice. Picard told him "I'd be happy to share my advice about understanding women - as soon as I have some I'll let you know"

 

My view on relationships - ultimately it isn't about the other person it's about who you are. If you have to "be someone you're not" then the relationship, IMO, isn't worth it.

 

If you are willing to put up with someone like Tina described - you need to ask yourself why - and that actually just sounds "typical" not anything extraordinarily jerkish.

 

If you have to ask if he's really in to you - he probably isn't. If you're still worried about it and you're some where after the second question - you should be asking yourself why.

Well, I what I was trying to get people to talk about were other things really.

 

Obviously if someone is mean to you or your friends, you shouldn't be with them.

 

But what about those more subtle things that happen in a relationship?

Hmmmmmmmmmmm, I think some of you don't realize that

was a huge bestseller written by some of the people involved with Sex and The City.

 

A mans advice to woman about what all those things you tell us, and what's really behind them.

I ended up not voting in that thread, because I would not pick either. Sure, both have had some good roles (Brad seems to be the slightly better actor). But to both of them.
