HRH The KING 0 Posted May 29, 2005 Nothing much I can say about this one. Terrible episode. The fact that this race of people has a vaccine which the almighty Federation couldn't create is nonsense, and if it was really that rare, one might have thought they would have asked for something more in return than Tasha Yar. If it were me, I would have asked them for a fleet of starships and masses of Federation technology in return, along with Tasha Yar. THAT would have made for a more interesting episode. If the virus that the vaccine was needed for was an epidemic, would Picard give up so much to get the vaccine? The end could have come with Picard forcibly taking the vaccine or organising a coup with a rival faction to overthrow the greedy and lustful leader holding the Federation to ransom, and replace him with a more reasonable regime, possibly in return for Federation membership? Now, I think that sounds better. But that's the "DS9" side of me coming out. Why didn't we see such a storyline in this episode? Oh yeah, I forgot, Roddenberry was still alive. I give this episode a rating of
Takara_Soong 4 Posted June 6, 2005 The first clunker of the series has little redeeming qualities other than Wes does not save the day. Man smitten with Yar, man kidnaps Yar, Yar fights for vaccine, man breaks word and loses everything.
Stephen of Borg 2 Posted January 23, 2006 An average episode but not horrible. A fair balance of humor and action make this episode watchable without being unbearable. Feels more like an episode from the original series rather than from TNG. *** out of *****
youbroughtheryouRiker 2 Posted January 27, 2006 Average. Not much to say that hasn't been said.
Gary Phaserman 0 Posted January 27, 2006 May I quote the Shat? This comes from the "Celebrity" Video. "Crap" "Crap. (I'm trying to say a bad word but can't). Caca." "I liked the end." "No, you know, the end, where [it] stops, that part? Great."
youbroughtheryouRiker 2 Posted November 12, 2007 And again, because I didn't post the number in my last post, I'll do it now. 3.
DaboGirl 7 Posted July 17, 2008 I give it a 4. It's actually one of the few BIG Tasha Yar episodes. Back then the holodeck seems really cool with the Martial Arts training and whatnot.
