TransporterMalfunction 1 Posted May 15, 2003 Does anyone else feel that the musical score in the episodes of TOS (not meaning the theme tune) was of a better quality or helped the tone of the plot in the stories. I realise it could be considered intrusive with all the high pitched sounds but I would really like to see a return of such music. I noticed that the music in TNG started off in a similar manner. Does anyone else have any feelings on this?

TransporterMalfunction 1 Posted May 15, 2003 I have all 3 tv soundtracks. If you'd like, I could help you obtain them. Thanks for the offer but I bought a CD in one of those specialist sci-fi stores and it has all the main tracks from TOS, all the main themes from the films (up until ST5) and the TNG main theme. And it only cost me five pounds! Anyway, thanks for your offer.

It's one of those things that makes TOS an original.
cptwright 1 Posted May 16, 2003 i concur, TOS was great, is great but i think the musical score throughout the show now would be a bit much, as in movies maybe occaisonaly with a tense scene or something but thats about it. IMO
Lessa_Soong 0 Posted May 16, 2003 I thought the music added much to the show, but was much more noticable than any of the other series...IMHO

Does anyone else have any feelings on this? There have been a few times on ENT, like during a fight scene; I thought I could hear little homage’s to TOS on the sound track but imo, not enough. I want a few BLATANT homage’s. Take First Flight for example, when the bar fight broke out, (the look of the scene was excellent!) would it have killed them to add a bar or two of something VERY reminiscing of the soundtrack scores to fight scenes in TOS? You know the theme I am talking about? I understand the track writers for ENT want to make it their own but how they are writing the tracks are often bland and imo, says they are afraid to go a little over the top. The ENT soundtacks have been kicking the homages to TOS into high gear! YEAH!
Nipples_The_Clown 0 Posted November 3, 2003 There is an awesome Star Trek soundtrack from Telarc called "Symphonic Star Trek",it has more than 40-tracks on a single CD,including what I consider to be the best scores from the motion pictures and series' (the CD is pre-Enterprise,and Pre-First Contact,so there is no music beyond the first season of Voyager),at the time.It also has several bonus tracks with sound effects (turbolift opening, warp drive engaging,TOS-era bridge computer sounds, etc),including a very eerie Borg saying the infamous "We are the Borg, surrender your ships..."spiel.I found my copy at Walmart for around $15 dollars.Haven't seen anymore since then, but the CD is still available directly from Telarc (Telarc also carries some great Star Wars soundtracks, like the soundtrack from Shadows of the Empire...which I also have). So far as I know,I have every Star Trek soundtrack currently available, and all but "The Empire Strikes Back" in my Star Wars soundtrack collection.I even have a Battlestar Gallactica soundtrack(casette...I'm hoping to find the CD,as the casette is so old the sound quality has started to fade).
