~ Any Star Trek Synopsis ~

Recommended Posts

Can you BRIEFLY now name a title of a favorite Episode, of ANY Series and give a BRIEF synopsis. For example. One of my favorite's was "BoobyTrap", TNG. Can anyone BRIEFLY tell what the story was??? I know alot of people have trouble connecting the titles with the stories, this might help some of us remember. :)

I'm horrible with connecting the titles of episodes to the actual episode. I suck with titles in general  , but I do remember the "Booby Trap" episode. The Enterprise D finds an ancient (forgot the name of the alien race  ) starship in an asteroid field. While investigating it, they get caught in the same booby trap that caught the alien ship. A good episode of the TNG, IMO. Picard does some fancy flyin' and gets them out in the end, if I remember correctly. :)

HUH?? :) That's not the one I remember, you didn't even mention Braum. And the holodeck attraction between her and Geordi. One sided of course. She wasn't interested. :)

I quite liked that episode too, good choice Jeanway.

I don't know what my favourite episode is but one that I really liked was 'A Fistful of Datas' TNG. Worf, Alexander and Deanna Troi get trapped in Alexander's western holodeck program. All the characters begin to turn into Datas due to a malfunction when Data links to the computer. Data also begins to take on cowboy traits himself. Anyway hilarity ensues.

I didn't remember the Geordi/Braum half of the episode. I think I might have that part mixed up with the other episode where she visited the Enterprise and turned out to be nothing like Geordi imagined, and she was married too. Poor Geordi. :) I can't remember the title of that episode either. My mind's a big 'Trek Stew'. I've got chunks of episodes and titles and names floating around in there. Who knows what's gonna end up getting mushed together. :)

I seem to remember a few episode with "Grids" or "Nets" or "Traps" in them too.

Here's a bowl of 'Stew' for the thread. I remember Q trapped the Enterprise D in some sort of grid or net in "Encounter at Farpoint" but I almost recall an episode of the original series where the Enterprise (minus any letters) was also caught in some kind of net. Does anyone remember this episode or is my brain messing with my head. <-- Huh?

'Too Many Toys' A collector of "UNIQUE" things decided he wanted to add 'Data' to his collection. But when he tried to control Data, he wouldn't co-operate. I know Data eventually went back to Enterprise.

If you know the story but can't remember the title, just tell the story and someone will come up with it, I'm sure.

I think that's The Tholian Web.

Yep, that one was "The Tholian Web", and the one Jeanway was refering to was TNG's "The Most Toys".

"Booby Trap", with both the ancient ship and Geordi/Brahms storylines, was one of my all-time favorites from TNG.

Yes, Ace, I stand corrected. It is "The Most Toys"

The Most Toys

Data apparently dies in a shuttlecraft explosion.

The crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise leaves Data for dead when his shuttlecraft explodes during a dangerous transport mission.

Finding no apparent signs of foul play, the Starship proceeds on its mission to transport rare hytritium to neutralize a sudden water contamination at a Federation colony. En route, Geordi is tormented by his inability to account for the shuttle explosion and the subsequent death of his friend.

Meanwhile, Kivas Fajo, the trader who supplied the hytritium, holds Data captive on his ship, adding the android to his collection of one of a kind items. Unable to escape, Data uses passive resistance to defy Fajo until his captor threatens to kill his own assistant, Varria, with a disrupter gun that slowly tortures its victims.

As the U.S.S. Enterprise approaches its destination, Geordi realizes that Data never transmitted a confirmation of departure from Fajo's ship, a breach of protocol virtually impossible for him to commit. Suspicions continue to mount when Worf reports that the contaminant in the outpost's water is not indigenous to the planet, and that the only neutralizer is the rare hytritium so conveniently supplied by Fajo. A report confirming that Fajo is a collector of rare objects convinces Picard that Data may have been kidnapped, and the U.S.S. Enterprise sets out in search of the trader's vessel.

Back aboard Fajo's ship, Varria attempts to seduce Data, but she is rebuked by the android who tells her that she is being used by Fajo to test his sexual abilities. Humiliated and angered by the truth, Varria helps Data escape, supplying him with a destructor gun and escorting him to a shuttlecraft. As they prepare to depart, Data and Varria are confronted by guards and a fight ensues, leaving them both unarmed.

Fajo then enters the shuttle bay and shoots Varria with a disrupter gun, leaving her to suffer a torturous death. Shocked by his own actions, Fajo discards the weapon, which Data quickly snatches up. Fajo then laughingly dares Data to shoot him, proclaiming that the android has no feelings which could justify murder to his anti-violent programming.

Moments later, Data is unwittingly transported back aboard the Enterprise. Much to his surprise, Riker learns that Data was firing a weapon at the moment of transport, but Data refuses to discuss the matter. Fajo is then arrested and the trader, who defined his value by his possessions, is stripped of his self-worth when his collection is confiscated

He also dies (or so we think...) on a Scimitar explosion.
