What a way to get my attention. When I first joined the navy, I served on Submarines as a Fire Control Technician. Because of a lack of sleeping accomodations large enough for me, I voluntarily took a rack in the Torpedo room. this rack had me sleeping next to a Mk. 48 ADCAP torpedo. three months at sea and I never got used to waking up to a torpedo.

Nope. The torpedoes are not armed when they are not in the tube. besides, if one blows up, everyone on the whole damned boat is dead, so who cares?

join the RCN and volunteer for Submarine duty. You guys have at least one sub, then request a rack in the Torpedo room.

I wish I could volunteer for sub duty. But being a female, that would be impossible. When a visiting sub came in Yokosuka, Japan I was a Boarding Officer that day! The p-ways where very small. I am glad females are not allowed on subs. Way to close for any small amount of comfort. If they could have a sub full of females. Please no jokes about pinks subs.
