Jeanway 0 Posted April 13, 2004 DEMOCRACY Sung by Leonard Cohen It's coming through a hole in the air, From those nights in Tiananmen Square It's coming from the feel That it ain't exactly real Or it's real, but ain't exactly there From the wars against disorder From the siren night and day: From the fires of the homeless From the ashes of the gay Democracy is coming to the U.S.A It's coming through a crack in the wall On a visionary flood of alcohol: From the staggering account Of the Sermon on the Mount Which I don't pretend to understand at all It's coming from the silence On the dock of the bay From the brave, the bold, the battered Democracy is coming to the U.S.A. It's coming from the sorrow on the street, The holy places where the races meet From the homicidal bi**hing That goes down in every kitchen To determine who will serve and who will eat From the wells of disappointment Where the women kneel to pray For the grace of GOD in the desert here And the desert far away Democracy is coming to the U.S.A Sail on, sail on, O Mighty Ship of State To the shores of need Past the reefs of greed Through the Squalls of Hate Sail On, Sail On It's coming to America first, The cradle of the best and the worst It's here they got the range And the machinery for change And it's here they got the spiritual thirst. It's here the family's broken And it's here the lonely stay That the heart has got to open In a fundamental way Democracy is coming to the U.S.A. It's coming from the women and the men. OH, baby, we'll be making love again We'll be going down so deep That the river's going to weep And the mountain's going to shout AMEN It's coming like the tidal flood Beneath the lunar sway Imperial, mysterious, In amorous array Democracy is coming to the U.S.A. I'm sentimental, if you know what I mean I love the country but I can't stand the scene. And I'm neither left nor right I'm just staying home tonight Getting lost in that hopeless little screen  But I'm stubborn as those garbage bags That time cannot decay. I'm junk but I'm still holding up This little wild bouquet: Democracy is coming to the U.S.A.............................Jeanway Out :(

Jim Phaserman 0 Posted April 13, 2004 That's right, Mike, Love of country should surpass loathing of the President. Deep down, I like America. sure, we have our problems, but if we were perfect, why bother even living here? I think Perfection is boring! so maybe we have a crime rate slightly higher. Maybe our schools aren't quite as good as some other places. the United States is STILL a fine place to live. if you wanna live somewhere cold, we got it! YOu wanna live somewhere warm, We got it! You wanna live on a south Pacific Island? Hey, we got one of them too! Big cities, open country, we have something to suit everyone's tastes.

Deep down, I like America. sure, we have our problems, but if we were perfect, why bother even living here? I think Perfection is boring that is a fair statement, i believe that, but i like it here in Canada no offense but i consider it a lot safer than the United States and i believe that in my opinion we are a better country to live in, but that is just my opinion.. Jim Phaserman 0 Posted April 13, 2004 Canada also has a much smaller population, and it's easier to maintain order with a smaller population.
Tina 0 Posted April 13, 2004 I love America for its idea of Democracy Sometimes the people annoy me..Thats when i go to Canda...But as an American its too dull to stay long..Give me my hometown anyday Even with Curious George in charge
Jim Phaserman 0 Posted April 13, 2004 Perfection is boring. America is not perfect, and therefor is not boring.
stoned_vulcan 0 Posted April 13, 2004 jim nothing is perfect though, and yes Canada is smaller, and yes i believe that helps to maintain the population, if that contributes to my opinion of it being a better country then its for the better
