TSonofvulcan 0 Posted March 27, 2004 Hey, I heard that molecular transport has been attempted. Someone tried to "Beam" a stack of papers 5 feet but it didn't work. I don't plan to take a trip for a while. LOL <_<
fenriz275 0 Posted March 27, 2004 I did read somewhere that someone had managed to transport a beam of light. Hey they managed to beam a beam, lol <_<
Valeris 2 Posted March 27, 2004 (edited) I have heard some of those rumors too. Does anyone know how far we actually are from molecular transport? I cannot wait! <_< Edited March 27, 2004 by Valeris
WEAREBORG4102 0 Posted March 27, 2004 they did beam a photon... But that was because of Special relativity and pair production.... unfortunately, our computers will never be able to transport us instantly until they reach a speed of 2,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 hertz...... nik 0 Posted March 27, 2004 I have heard some of those rumors too. Does anyone know how far we actually are from molecular transport? I cannot wait! How far from molecular transport? Pretty far. As WEAREBORG said, all we can do is examine QM effects on single photons, and maybe separated electrons, but not entire molecules, let alone nucleons. These experiments really aren't too much beyond what Michael Faraday was doing 100-150 years ago with EM waves.
VaBeachGuy 12 Posted March 27, 2004 Here is an interesting story that touches not only on this but other "Trek Topics" http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?...1.DTL&type=tech
