  1. Actually, so many jobs - or, more accurately, job functions - have been outsourced to India that India is an outsourcer of jobs themselves, mostly to China.

So, in other words, it's pretty much a vicious cycle? :P

Except for the fact that the American worker is nowhere in that cycle.......

Live by the market, die by the market. The United States is a capitalist nation right? Well, that's what happens in a capitalist economy. If a company can make greater profit by moving operations to an area where the workforce costs less, such as China or India, then Joe Yank is heading for unemployment.

  2. As I recall, didn't Quark rent out his holosuite mainly for sexual purposes?

He did. From a business perspective it makes sense. If there is a demand, provide the supply. I have no problem with that as long as no one is harmed.

  3. One could argue that using the information gathered by unethical medical research would at least provide some good to come from the suffering of the victim. So although they died, if that information can save others, then they didn't die for nothing. On the other hand, it can be argued that using medical knowledge obtained by unethical practices tacitly approves those practices and may encourage it in the future. Overall, I would say the best approach is to use any useful medical knowledge, but punish the one who gathered it unethically. Seperate the man/woman from the knowledge since it's not the knowledge itself that is the problem.

  4. Very interesting. Appealing too. Some may find it uncomfortable with the prospect of being a tiny-teeny part of a much larger universe. Personally I find it humbling, a demonstration that humans shouldn't get too cocky. A little humility is good for humanity I think.

  5. There is an approved list of names?

I believe the Swedish government has approval over the names parent choose for their children. A little odd but it does prevent parents saddling their children with some ridiculous name (see Moon Unit, Apple, Moxy Crimefighter, etc).

Didn't Nicolas Cage name his kid "JorEl" after Superman's Krypton Name?

No, he named him "Kal-El" which is actually Superman's real Kryptonian name.
