  1. By his own admission he hasn't read the script, so I'm not certain what his problem is exactly. His comment regarding Enterprise is odd too. He claims Enterprise was "doing better" but it certainly wasn't in the ratings. He's quite correct that it is "tricky" to do a prequel. If you handle it properly, it can work. If you handle it like Rick Berman and Brannon Braga handled Enterprise, then it won't work. In terms of continuity, no problem will be encountered as long as the producers of Star Trek XI are honest with the audience. If they tell people that the new movie will not be entirely held rigidly to previously established canon, then the audience will know what to expect going into the movie. That way, the audience cannot complain about canon issues.

  2. true....but you've got to admit on DS9, the time trave episodes were actually amusing sometimes than plain stupid

Why must I admit this? DS9's episodes were dark and complex. I didn't see anything "amusing" or "stupid". They did contain a certain amount of black humour, but that fit the tone of the episode and the series in general.

  3. "Kor 37"

I think Coto breathed new life into Enterprise. His episodes are among the best in the series.

If that's the "best", then I fear for this franchise.

I think a lot of fans just didn't "get" Enterprise. They expected to see a polished crew like what we were used to from the previous series'. Thats not what this series was about. This series was about taking first steps and making mistakes and learning from them so that eventually the polished crews of the later series could emerge.

It's got nothing to do with not "getting" Enterprise.

Deep Space Nine was far less "polished" in terms of characters and it lasted seven seasons.

People can recognise bad writing when they see it on the TV screen. That's what IMO sunk Enterprise.

  4. It may have been avoidable had the Alpha Quadrant waited and gathered information on the Gamma Quadrant before foolishly and recklessly establishing colonies like "New Bajor" which was cited by the Jem Hadar as a provocation. Before the colony was established the Ferengi were able to deal with Dominion allies such as the Dosi relatively peacefully. Granted, the Dominion may have reacted too extremely to the colony, but still it was a massive mistake to set one up before everything was known about who considered that space their territory.

  5. "Kor37"

It sounds like your problem is with Jack Marshall most likely because of his involvement in the "Save Enterprise" campaign.

I have problems with both Marshall and "New Voyages". For different reasons.

Apparently, since Marshall was once involved with "NewVoyages", you dislike that product as well.

Actually that's not true. I dislike Marshall for the SE comments, but my dislike of "New Voyages" is seperate from that.

If memory serves, Marshall left "NewVoyages" some time ago. Apparently, a real studio thought that his work on "NewVoyages" was good and hired him.

And we all know that studios never make bad decisions right?

However, please allow the rest of us that do like "NewVoyages" to enjoy it without your vitriol.

The fact that I post my opinion regarding "New Voyages" does not in any way prevent you or anyone else from enjoying it. If it does, then that's something you'll simply have to accept, unless you require a thread/message board to consist of opinions only containing praise in order to enjoy something.

    "Odie"

Did you even see the fan project before commenting that it was garbage?

    Yes I have.

  6. Lady Britannia, I’m going to do something that almost never happens and is agree with Kor. For fan production it is really good. As being in charge of special effects for a developing video program I’m thinking of asking them for notes. The screen play is about the same as the original show… Corny! But hey… it is from the 60’s. And again, I am agreeing with Kor… This doesn’t happen much, so you might want to mark it down on your score cards.

I know nothing of your message board conflicts.

However, I stand by opinion. "New Voyages" is garbage and their founder Jack Marshall, during the whole "Save Enterprise" saga, posted some of the most sycophantic nonsense I have ever read.

    Almost vomit inducing.
