  1. William Stryker, It looks like it's not just Enterprise that you dislike. Seems like there is at least 1 character from each series that you have a problem with..Since you dislike Enterprise so much I'm surprised you didn't name someone from there..

I thought I'd go for a little bit of a variety.

BTW, I believe Ezri Dax wasn't a Science Officer. She was a Counselor.

Whatever. That might answer the Symbiont Problem that I had with the character, but it makes her no less annoying.

  2. Is actively seeking out and signing up new discontented fans each members responsibility and if so, does that include convincing them of errors of their way as a means for recruitment?

No, it doesn't. Not to my knowledge of the group. I don't need anyone to convince me. I have my own mind and form my own opinions about the state of the franchise.

I do not believe ratings matter that much when it comes to Trek, if it did VOY would have been cancelled but it survived. The real money over the long haul comes from CONS and PRODUCTS and besides aren't ratings for ENT on par with VOY and showing improvement?

The ratings are still poor. It's the quality (or lack) of ENT that worries me. Together with Nemesis, Insurrection and the poor ratings on VOY, Star Trek is in decline and is in trouble.

Getting back to licensing, the New Direction has opened the doors for future video games based on the Expanse, the Xindi and every thing associated so more improvement there.

This Xindi Arc is tiresome IMO, and I wouldn't buy any video game based upon it.

Does there ever come a time when the members of SOST admit your efforts are starting to bear fruits and back off a bit or does your group keep the pressure on to reach your goal despite improvements or attempts at improvement?

I'm not the leader, so I can't speak for all Trek fans in this 'Faction'. But I am a reasonable person. I would accept some concessions such as improvement. I would want a great deal of improvement for any Sixth Series. If not, then the pressure will continue. The next move is Viacom/Paramount's. if they don't deliver some changes and improvements, then our discontent and anger will grow, the divisions between fans will continue and will worsen, and Star Trek will continue to decline and then die.

  3. If you don't mind me asking I'm curious about what the primary method your group uses to attain its goals for Trek?

It's the 'SAVEOURSTARTREK' campaign. It's limited to petitions gathering signatures from discontented fans. They send these petitions to Paramount Chief Sherry Lansing.

The ratings for Enterprise are abysmal. Nemesis flopped at the box office. The licensees are allowing their rights to the Star Trek brand name expire, because they believe that Paramount/Viacom are neglecting Star Trek at worst and steering it in the wrong direction at best.

I would hope that Paramount deal with the problems currently faced

  4. i only like the first two.

'Batman' and 'Batman Returns' were dark, violent and stylish.

'Batman Forever' and 'Batman and Robin' were based on the campy old TV series and were crap.

The new movie sounds better. Christopher Nolan will get things back on track.

As for titles, 'Batman Intimidation' sounds OK, I guess, but I'd prefer something like 'Batman: The Dark Knight'.

  5. I took my name from the X-Men comic books and the movie X2.

In the comic books 'Reverend William Stryker' was a former military man turned preacher who hated mutants and tried to kill them all.

In the movie X2 'General William Stryker' was the man who created Wolverine and Lady Deathstryke and tried to use another Cerebro to kill all mutants.

I love the surname "Stryker" because it sounds dynamic and cool.

  6. I would say:

    5: Reginald B. B. B. B. B. Barclay.

This guy could barely speak without stammering and he graduated from the ACADEMY????

    4: Deanna Troi.

    Very annoying. For example.

    INT. BRIDGE USS ENTERPRISE.

Picard and Troi stand on the bridge.

    ROMULAN COMMANDER ON THE VIEWSCREEN:

"DAMN YOU PICARD, NOW I WILL KILL YOU AND DESTROY YOUR SHIP"!!!!

    TROI (turns to Picard)

"Captain....I'm sensing that he is very hostile"

PICARD (rolls his eyes and slaps Troi)

"NO *poopie* SHERLOCK!!!! YOU NEEDED TELEPATHY TO KNOW THAT?????"

    3: Ezri "Frickin" Dax

Let me get this straight. When a Trill Host dies, they remove the Symbiont and place it in a DIFFERENT Host to give it a variety of lives and experiences. So they take the Dax symbiont from Jadzia's who was a Starfleet officer and put it into the annoying Ezri, who is (wait for it) A STARFLEET OFFICER!!!

    What's with that????

They put this moron on DS9 for ONE SEASON!!!! Why not just devote more screen time to the other regular and recurring characters???

    2: WESLEY CRUSHER.

Get this Wes. We do not want you to save the damn ship. We want Picard, or Riker, or Geordi, or Data, or Worf to save the ship. NOT YOU!!! Go AWAY!!! You annoying little man-boy genius thingy.

    1: Neelix:

Annoying voice, girlfriend Kes was far too pretty to hang around with this furry annoying Talaxio-Freak. He actually makes the food for the crew. I wouldn't let this dude touch my food. Why did they keep him on board to waste the ship's precious resources??? Once they reached the end of the space he knew well, they should have dropped him on some godforsaken planet (but kept Kes, because she was so cute). DIE NEELIX DIE!!!!

  7. Now I don't condone the bashing, but it sometimes sounds like some Trek fans think every other ST fan should just watch the show and be happy about it, keeping the ratings up no matter what TPTB throw out at us -- and that's probably exactly what TPTB rely on. If they were to suddenly replace T'Pol with TinkyWinky, I wouldn't keep my mouth closed and keep watching just because it's named Star Trek. I know no one here is really saying that, but I felt like getting that out there.

This is what I am worried about. Blind loyalty to the show, just because it has the name Star Trek on it. The "Discontent Faction Of Trek Fans" (which I consider myself a part of) SHOULD be critical of the show and the franchsie, to let Paramount and the producers know that we will not watch Star trek fall and then die. You have to understand. When I criticise Enterprise, I'm not doing it because it's fun, far from it, it hurts me to be so critical of Star Trek but it's something I feel must be done. What I say and what I believe, is for what I consider to be the good of Star Trek. I believe the standards are slipping. I expect more from Star Trek and I worry that it is being hurt beyond any salvation. I'm not trying to put down the faction of Trek fans who like things like "Enterprise, Voyager, Nemesis, Insurrection" etc, but I simply do not like what Trek has become. It's very sad to see Trek in such a state.

    (IMO)

    :frusty::clap::eek:

  8. another reason for not floating.

what if they already got no power or need repairs?

Accepted. But, if they have no power. How would they generate a stablising field from the saucer? (if it has such a thing) I just don't believe that four little struts would be enough to hold a ship of that size. It would fall over.

  9. I loved the Cardassians. At first they just two-dimensional villains, but Deep Space Nine explored so much into their culture and beliefs. Gul Dukat was brilliant and Garak was superb in every episode he was in. Although even when damra led his rebellion, I never entirely trusted that the new Cardassian philosophy would last. But I love the Cardassians, the Obsidian order, Enarbran Tain, Empok Nor, etc. What's not to love about them?.....other than the fact that they were a genocidal, Nazi-esque, murderous, torturous race of repressors.

  10. I liked Pegasus. I have to admit, I did sympathise with the Admiral and I have also thought that the Federation got the worst out of the Treaty of Algeron. Cloaking technoogy was too valuable to give up. I love seeing that visual of the Pegasus half bured in rock. Incredible episode.

    :frusty:

  11. I remember seeing bits of it on TV when I was a kid. But I never watched an episode. It certainly seems like a good idea.

A new 'Star Trek Animated Series' now would be incredible. With advances in computer animation and special effects, there's no limit as to where such a show could go. New ships, new crews, new worlds, new environments.

I think a new animated series would be very exciting and I would eagerly look forward to it. I just thought of it a few seconds ago, but now I think it would be an incredible idea. I have never even considered the idea before now.

    :P :eek::frusty: :lol: :clap:

  12. Shatner saw a blimp that looked like the Enterprise

No, that's not what happened. You see, just before he died, his life flashed before his eyes. One of those flashes was of him recording his terrible music album. He was going to say "OH MY GOD!!!!! WHAT WAS I THINKING!!!!"

But he died before he could finish speaking.

    :o :o B)
