  1. Personally, I loved the Ferengi.

    ;)

Not me, I'd be affraid of being infected by her nana-probes, especially after they infected Holo-Doc's mobile emitter!

Her 'nana probes' don't interest me. She does have other assets.

    ;)

As I remember, Tom hated being the ship's nurse.

That's because they wanted him to dress up like a nurse. With a little hat and a skirt.

    :)

One cargo bay was converted into an airponics (spelling?) bay, cargo bay 2 (where Seven's alcove is located) was usually half-empty

    Saved for emergency supplies?

then we have 3 shuttlebay-sized cargo bays near the bottom of the ship. I think they had plenty of space.

They didn't need a crappy little junk pile ship on Voyager. Why did he keep that stupid thing there?

  2. What did you think of the show, hmm?

    I loved it.

Well, Worf was portrayed in the movies as he was in TNG, with character growth from DS9. I thought they got him right and the only time I thought he was used for comic reliefe was in INSURRECTION, a light hearted movie.

Why him? Why did he have to be the comic relief?

    A shame, they're very informative.

    I'm sure they are.

What would you have preferred they do with Worf in NEMESIS?

After watching Nemesis, iId rather they hadn't made the movie at all.

Personally, I thought it was an awesome sci-fi show, but it felt weak somehow in comparison to the other shows.

I agree with the first part of your post, and disagree with the second.

Strange, I thought Season 7 was the best of DS9.

    I loved all of DS9.

  3. You're welcome! I'm so glad I could help!

    Thanks!!!

    I'm sorry.

I'm going to cry now. BOO HOO!!!!

    ;)

No one's born ugly. Maybe you don't like Tallaxians?

    You're right. I don't like them.

    Instead of doing their job?

Even Starfleet Officers have to eat as well. all work and no food makes the crew er....very hungry?

    :)

You try being stuck on the other side of the galaxy and be happy about it.

if I was stuck there with Jeri Ryan, I'd be cool with that.

Her primary mission is to get Voyager home, not play diplomat.

Acquiring new technology, supplies, resources, alliances, etc. These all require diplomatic skills. She could have used the Caretaker's Array in the first episode and got home, but no, she blew the damn thing up.

    Try telling Tom that.

He was OK with it. I would have glady taken that job if it got me away from that moody B'elanna.

Voyager had 5 huge cargo bays, I think they could manage.

    I don't.

    He was new to Voyager.

I would have made him bathe in ice cold water, and told him that's an old Earth custom. Just for a laugh!!!

Nope, I didn't mean that at all.

    Good.

  4. You watched ROSWELL?!

    Yes, I did.

Oh? Besides arguing with Troi about appearing naked at here wedding and freaked when B4's arm grabs his leg, I thought Worf was treated as a serious Klingon warrior in this movie. What makes you think he was there for comic relief? At least everyone in the movie has 2 comic scenes, why is Worf any different?

Worf's humour has always I feel, been more subtle, ie "The-Guy-Who-Is-Really-Hard-Showing-He-Has-A-Sense-Of-Humour". Not the buffoonery he has become in the movies.

Actually, in the special features of the DVD, that's exactly how Michael

Dorn "Worf" refers to the movie - a high school reunion.

I hated this movie so much, I'm not going to waste time looking at the special features on a DVD to a terrible movie.

My point is, it's a TNG movie. Just becuase Worf is also a main character on DS9 doesn't mean he can't be in any more TNG movies.

I think that they should have drawn a line under the character when DS9 ended. I also don't think it matters anymore since I don't believe they'll be anymore TNG movies.

To say, "Oh, Worf's at DS9, I guess he can't be in any more TNG movies." would be lame.

    I disagree.

Are you one of those DS9 fans who thinks all other Trek is inferrior?

    Yes.

Stryker may not be one of those DS9 fans with a superiority complex, but I believe I have become one.

Hey!!!, I have a DS9 superiority complex. It was excellent.

I find DS9 superior to all other Trek.

    Me too.

Despite the fact that I think Behr was smoking crack during the latter half of season 7, my hat is off to him for putting such a wonderful show on the air.

If I had a hat, I'd take it off for him too. LIGHT ONE UP FOR IRA!!!!

    ;) :) ;)

  5. Well that gag fell quite flat for me and I know some of my friends almost walked out of the theater and won't watch the movie because of that one part.

I agree. It was a very silly thing to do. I saw this movie at the cinema and when this scene came on screen, the audience just laughed and the people sitting around me whispered how stupid it was. I almost died of embarassment.

The whole "Live For The Moment" theme behind the movie was very tiresome. After the excellent "First Contact" I had high hopes for this movie, but i was very disappointed.

But I will offer a concession and say that Insurrection was better than Nemesis

  6. None of the characters are "neccessary". It's fiction.

REALLY???? It's Fiction??? WOW!!! Thanks for telling me that because I thought it was all real!!!

Once again, none of the characters are neccessary, it's fiction.

Why do you have to shatter my illusions????

you said you didn't like him because he was ugly, so I asked why.

Some people are just born ugly. Maybe his parents were ugly???

    He was a cook.

I'm sure a few of the crew could whip up a meal or so.

    Moral officer

They were highly trained Starfleet Officers. They don't need morale booosting from an alien who seemed to annoy them more than anything else. The Maquis members seemed to gel quickly with the crew. They were used to stressful conditions while fighting the Cardies. They didn't need a morale officer

    Ambassador.

As ship's Captain. This should have been Janeway's job.

Kes was a nurse in training, so why should she leave?

They seemed to manage once she left.

Your reasons for having Neelix and Kes leave are not logical.

    Hmmm. I wish I was a Vulcan.

As for Neelix's ship, it was storred in Shuttlebay 2, a seconday shuttlebay behind the launch bay.

They could have used that for extra cargo, saved in storage for when they really needed it.

Also, with a crew of about 150, I don't think 2 people are going to effect the use of resources all that much

In the first episode, Neelix uses a heck of a lot of water to take a simple bath. That's a waste of resources. He's breathing, that's a waste of air.

especially when one of them sets up an airponics garden.

You mean to imply that no one else on this ship would have come up with the idea of GROWING THEIR OWN FOOD???

  7. In 'Unification' just after Data has given Sela the Vulcan Neck Pinch, they begin to walk towards the exit of the room. They walk by a green glass object on a desk and you can clearly see the reflection of a crewmember wearing glasses. I heard it somewhere that this is the director of the episode Cliff Bole.

  8. I don't think you quite understand Counselor Troi, she never stated the obvious like that and was a very complex character.

I thought she was very annoying.

Dax was dieing, Ezri just happened to be on the ship taking Dax back to Trill, so they stuck Dax in Ezri before Ezri had any form of joininng training. The experrience brought so much chaos to her life that she felt she needed to seek out Benjamin Sisko to sort things out.

    Good for her.

In the end, Ezri will be remembered as the "confused host".

I'll remember her as "The Unnecessary Character"

Sounds like you have a problem with the stories, not the character.

Then it sounds wrong. I hate the 'Wesley Crusher' character.

"Where No One Has Gone Before" to understand why Wesley is "special" in terms of being brilliant.

I was hoping that he'd get killed in this episode, but alas....

Neelix isn't ugly, that's your opinion.

Yes, it is. thankyou for the confirmation of that.

Aside from his looks, you have failed to explain why he's annoying. So, becuase someone doesn't look like you, they're a freak? Oh, sure, that follows the Trek philosophy...

He was a totally unnecessary character. I have already given you one of the reasons I didn't think he was needed, I'm not giving you a lecture on the 'Pros and Cons of Neelix': If the ship had such limited resources, why take this guy along for the ride and take up valuable space by having his ship on board. There were even less reasons to keep Kes on board? Once he had guided them as far as he could, he should have left.

  9. In my opinion, it could only be Michael Piller. Working with Ronald Moore, they would get Trek back on track. They would also be greatly served by bring back Rene Echevarria, Naren Shankar, and Ira Stephen Behr. Those guys working without Rick Berman's interference, turned Deep Space Nine into the best Trek show IMO.

    As for the others:

Josh Whedon (Buffy, Angel, Firefly) – I loved Buffy and I watch Angel, but he’s not cut out for Trek.

    J. Michael Straczynski (Babylon 5) – I never watched this show. Other than Trek, I don’t watch any other Sci-Fi. He is a decent writer however. His graphic novels ‘The Rising Stars’ are quite good, but leadership of the franchise? No way.

Rod Roddenberry – Never even heard of him.

Brannon Braga – If this nimrod became head of the franchise, Star Trek would die.

  10. Why was it pointless to put Ezri in the show? Jadzia died, not Dax, so Dax needed a new host.

Dax may have needed a new Host but we didn't have to see her or him. IMO, when Jadzia died, that should have been the end of our interest in Dax. There were other characters to give screentime to that were more important than Ezri.

nor is Jesse popular with Roswell fans.

I actually liked him. I would prefered Isobel is end up with me, but alas....

I don't think it was pointless, I thought it made for very unique stories. My only problem with Season 7 was that Jake had nothing to do.

I agree with you on the Jake point. They should not have placed Ezri on the show and devoted more time to Jake.

As for being a "comic relief buffoon", he had two comic scenes. How does this make him a comic-relief-buffoon?

Because he was there for comic relief and he was a buffoon. Simple as that.

    NEMESIS is a TNG movie.

    A terrible one.

Worf was a regular for all seven seasons of TNG.

    So?

they just wanted all 7 characters to return for their final adventure.

For what? What was it supposed to be? a High School reunion??? The character moved and grew when it was moved to DS9 and they HAD to bring it back for the last abysmal movie?

    Yes, it was worth it.

I'm going to have to disagree!!!

    :frusty::clap:

  11. *Do you consider it worth watching?

Absolutely. Even after all these years. it is still excellent viewing.

*Would you advise people new to the franchise to give it a look?

Yes. it would show people where it all started. It might help them appreciate how long Star Trek has lasted. It has had such a long life, because the overall message behind the show is the future can be better. Star Trek is one of the few Sci-Fi shows that says that the future will be a place you would want to live. We just have to work hard to achieve it.

*Is it exciting or dull for a modern audience?

Exciting. Thoughtful, insightful, and it fills you with hope. If they can be persuaded to stop watching nonsense like Punk'd, Newlyweds, Jack@$$ and all the other trash that fills our screens these days. They would see how intelligent entertainment can be.

*Is it still the best or is it out of date rubbish that deserves to be forgotten?

I believe that Deep Space Nine is the best Star Trek series, followed by TNG and then TOS. The issues and message behind the episodes are still relevant. More improtnantly are the characters. Even now, they are likable, you develop a real warmth towards them. All had depth, which was expanded into the movies. All were very different in terms of their personalities and the central trio of Kirk, Bones and Spock is still in my opinion, the best friendship between characters ever seen on TV. it wasn't a perfect friendship, but they stayed together.

*Are you a modern fan that is interested in seeing more of this show?

I'm 23 so I TNG was my introduction to the Trek universe. I don't think anything more should be added to TOS, but it doesn't need to be. It remains as good as it can be and I beleive is essential and compelling viewing.

  12. aside from that, the Cardies always seemed a bit too eager to fight.

This was caused by two main reasons.

    1) Poor resources on Cardassia. They had to fight and conquer to expand and survive.

    2) Their inherant pride, which seemed to be pushing them to be involved in most situations. they joined the Dominion because of the humiliation of the Klingon attacks, and to be influential within the Alpha Quadrant.
