    I had heard of the Chimera class in researching for an RPG but I had never seen one. I found this picture and a brief history. I wasn't a big fan of DS9 so I wasn't even aware of it's existence. But according to it's brief history it's now extinct. Is this correct? Can anyone tell me what "EAS" means?

    Chimera Class History

     

    The Chimera Class Large Cruiser was an EA attempt to build a ship out of spare parts. During the Earth-Minbari War, numerous Hyperion class cruisers and Nova class dreadnoughts would make it out of battle, but were so badly damaged that they were put aside to be repaired later, when wartime ship production let up. Unfortunately for the EA, the faster they produced ships, the faster the Minbari destroyed them.

     

    One EA engineer, on his way to his daily building duties at the Alpha Centauri Fleet Yards, noticed that quite a few of the mothballed Hyperions had only heavily damaged engineering sections. He also noticed that the aft ends of many Novas were more or less intact. He proposed that a new type of cruiser be built off of these discarded ships. Using the forward part of the Hyperion Class (forward the first engineering "block"), coupled with the aft third of a Nova, the Chimera Class Large Cruiser was born.

     

    The ship, on paper at least, was impressive. Six Mk-I interceptors, 4 SPBs, 2 MPCs, and 4 of the Nova's LPA's rounded out the Alpha model's weapons array. A flight of fighters provided the ship with adequate fighter protection. With a Nova reactor, it was thought that there would be ample power to keep the ship in combat. It proved less than satisfactory. Of the 47 built, only 15 survived the EM war. Tactics used during the War was blamed for this. The Beta model replaced the LPA's with Heavy LPA's. The reactor could barely handle the added power requirements, and only 8 were refit before the Earth Civil War. Chimeras fought on both sides, though the EA's Chimeras were mainly used as Colony Guard vessels at the smaller, outlying colonies. By the time of the civil war, 12 were in service, 4 for Clark, 3 defected to Sheridan, 2 were uninvolved, the rest served in colony defense.

     

    The entire class was decommissioned in late 2263, as more Omega class ships were built, allowing the Hyperion Monitor Cruiser to take over Colony Guard.

    "SO, how you coming on the modifications Aaron?" Lida asked. Aaron had just stuffed his mouth full of spagetti and tried to answer.     Aaron came in the backdoor, his arms loaded down with split logs. Kicked the door open and the elves ran in around him into the kitchen. They ran around grabbing at the drying pasta that was hung all over everything, making a mess and the children all ganged up on them on the floor, dragged them out the door and slammed it shut. "And Stay Out!" Kailyn yelled. "Yea, Stay outside!" Able added.

     

    Two large pots of salted boiling water stood on the stove. Aaron stoked the fire then loaded the remaining wood in the wicker basket on the floor. "Go wash up now, IN the laundryroom." Becka told him. He did as she told him. "And all the rest of you, go wash up. We're going to cook the pasta now, it won't take long." Becka ordered.

"Go sit now, Lida and I will take care of this now." Becka said as she scooped out the cooked pasta into a large bowl then into a strainer in the sink. Then back into the bowl toss with butter. Everyone sat down and began to eat after Abe said the blessing.post-897-1102288218.jpg Lida took the sheets of garlic toast from the ovens throughout the meal. "Wine? Where's the wine?" Bill yelled. Chrissy looked at him, so did Kate, becka and Lida. "OH, O.K. then, no wine I guess." He added as Lenny kicked him under the table. "Kool-Aid will be fine." ILikeSeven said as he poured a glass for himself and Chrissy.

    When Voyager and TNG was on everynight of the week in syndication I watched 10 times a week. Now THAT's gone :naughty: so I only watch once a week, Enterprise. But I have some of the movies on tape and I have taped some episodes so if I'm really hurting I can watch those for a quick fix. :rolleyes:

    25 degrees here and very windy. The B.P. is at 29.9, on the rise. The sky is overcast, maybe some snow on the way. Wondering if I could get a Humidometer??? :hammer: If that's the correct word, I don't know. :rolleyes: I wonder if the air can be acid or alkaline??? :nono: :blink: :frusty: There is such a thing as 'acid rain' but that's outside. I mean indoors????? :naughty:
