  2. When Im right Im right.

The Mariners did not just beat the Tigers today they stomped all over them 12-2 to take the series. The M's played in true Seattle form today scoring in the first inning like they did so many times last year. Also Gim Meche gave us a solid start giving up only 2 runs and had a no hitter gonig thorough 4 innings. The bullpen gave us 3 scorless innings. The Mariners have won 9 out of there last 10 against the Tigers.Sorry Nik but we have your number. :)

Tommorow we start a series agaist minnesota so maybe we can help you guys out a little Nik.[/glow]

Just kill me now! Holy crap, after that routing I'm still reeling. I'd like to say the 3 errors by the Tigers made the difference, but 14 hits against our 4 didn't help much either. All I can say is the Tig's are playing like their old selves.

I didn't watch Boston-Texas, but that would have been a good game. Strong teams on both sides. I wouldn't have put any money on that game. Boston should have an easy series against the tribe.

Other than that, I need another aspirin...

  3. nik, i'm not dragging that whole quote down here.  Was it Chuck Swindoll your thinking of, the Evangelist?  At first I wanted to say Will Rogers but I figured, NOT. :) Had to be someone more recent, since we are getting more and more introspective in our thinking the past 10 years. Am I right?  Now quit with the chop busting :) Go conjugate some verbs B)  ;)

The 99% thing was indeed a quote by Chuck Swindoll, although Eleanor Roosevelt may have said it at one time or another. Not bad Jeanway!

  4. Although skeptical, I have indeed heard of such things. Consider this: neurons function via electrochemical transmissions - ions. Charged particles (such as ions) change paths in magnetic fields. The MRI machine is a pretty

strong field, too. Is it strong enough to affect electrochemical response? I don't know. We must also keep in mind that other local forces govern this, and that the ions are in general very constrained in scope.

  5. Naa, just takes a little time to get used to us, that's all nik, your doing just fine for a phycisits  Perhaps a night out with Capt.Wright might help. You two can get "  BOXED "  together

I bet the Captain and I would get along great!

  6. Deer, opposum, raccoon, squirrels, Canade geese, ducks, lot's of wetland life.

Living in Texas was the best, though!  Horned lizards, racers, an occassional rattler, an armadillo every now and then..... like going to the zoo.

that only happens when you live outside of te city

Yep.... That's right, I forgot you were Texan. Lived there as a kid.... want to go back.

  7. What's "the thing with nik?"

I think that of all the senses, smell is one that humans can adapt to losing most easily. I find it fascinating that people can lose a sense -any sense- and still adapt. Also, I find fascinating about a lack of olfactoray sensation is that it CAN be dangerous (think about things like gas leaks, etc.). The result is that the person either seems incredibly foolhardy or finds very subtle ways to rely on the senses of others. Consider a blind person. In many cases, they rely obviously on things like walking sticks, dogs, and other people to see. I have yet to see another person with a "smelling nose" dog or constantly asking a companion "What do you smell? What do you smell, now? How about now?" How is it done?

Actually, I know the answer to this. I also have no sense of smell (part of the reason I find these people fascinating). (Childhood illness did it in for me.) We just don't. Sure I wish I could smell things like popcorn, and have spent hours in a house leaking gas. However, as Jeanway, pointed out, smells can trigger lucid memories. There's something....... interesting about being detached from all that.....

WEAREBORG's not so bad..... persistent. That's good. I always tell aspiring scientists that what makes a good scientist is not knowledge, for that is imparted. It is patience. Learn to go for days, weeks, months, and years before getting an answer, and perhaps you will be a scientist.

  8. Uhura can clear up any transmission. Cripes, she could successfully open a channel to a pancake if Kirk told her to.

Oh, c'mon! That's idiomatic hyperbole, ladies and gentleman! Hyperbole of the most ridicuous sort. Hey, if it made someone's sig, it must be good! There, you see? Poetry!
