  1. This topic reminds of the scene in Galaxy Quest when Tim Allen was calling the Galaxy Quest fan for technical help. The kid started off explaining that he understood it wasn't real, and that it was a TV show, and he was not a nut case...and then Tim Allen interjected with "It's all real."

"I knew it! I knew it!"

That kid could have been alot of us. Don't we all have that secret wish (except, as the King so aptly pointed out, we could do without the Borg.....)

I love that movie. That part when he called for technical help was a riot. The fans all got out their schematics and went to work. Each one had their own area of expertise.

My question: How did the aliens find all the stuff required to build the ship?

  2. The only problem is that Kirk's no longer in the Nexus.  The only reason why Guinnan's "echo" was left behind was becuase the Enterprise-B's transporters pulled, ripped her away - she didn't leave willingly like Kirk and Picard.  It was because Guinnan and Soran left part of themselves behind that Soran so obsessed with getting back.

His imprint would be there. The nexus does not operate in linear time. Archer could run into him before he meets Picard.

  3. So, what's to stop UPN from giving us 20 episodes for season five and 18 episodes for season six? <_<

    Wait and see, CJLP.

I really do not like Enterprise being on UPN to begin with. Things were so much better when the Treks were in syndication. There are survices that do not even offer UPN. That is part of the reason for the lack of ratings.

  4. I guess the closest thing we have today to Starfleet would be NASA. NASA is part of our military budget. NASA is supposed to be about exploration but a lot of times it has to be involved with work that is directly involved with the DOD. Without that, no funding.

  5. Enterprise is just getting too militaristic for my tastes.  I enjoyed it for a story arc and understand that Starfleet is a kind of military, but it's nothing like what we have today.  Infact, I'm wonderring if it's a new kind of organization that doesn't exist yet, perhaps some kind of organization hybrid?  Anywho, that's not the point of this discussion.  My point is that there's too much fighting and not enough explorration and scientific missions.  Yes, conflict is needed for a plot, but Trek has done it years with a ship of explorration and with scientific missions.  I sincerely hope we can go back to the goold old days and perhaps even have the really out there episodes like "Vox Sola".  What do you all think?  Should Enterprise return to the mission of seasons 1 and 2, but with story arcs, or embark on "mini-missions" instead of explorration?

I guess you have not seen much of TOS. Starfleet is basically millitary. They use our present day Naval ranks, correct. Also, things are not all that peaceful in Archer's time. Kirk got into some nasty battles with the Klingons and Romulans also. I guess you are used to TNG, which was more about exploration. Most of TNG takes place during treaties. As you get into DS9, there is the war with the Dominian. I guess if there is no real war going on, Starfleet can devote more time to exploration.

  6. Like Captain Bolivar I love Enterprise! I'm amazed at how I find myself thinking about ENT more than TOS, no other series before has been able to edge out TOS out of my thoughts like ENT has.  :tear:

That is a very interesting comment. At times I have felt the same way.

I am not jumping for joy about the fourth season. I just do not get that emotional about things like this.

I think the show should of had better ratings. I just do not think that it will be a great success until it hits reruns on other stations. Hmm, yep a lot like TOS, yep.

  7. Hmm ok i think it couldnt hurt you to be more like us but on the other hand the world would become a boring place if you did :dude:   :dude: ..you Americans are nuts (i mean that in a nice way)but thats what i love about ya :dude:

Whatever, this is a very general question. The European countries are nationalistic. There really is not a nationality that is American. Americans are all different. We are either immigrants or descendants of immigrants.
