  1. Hollywood suffers from a serious "Frankenstein" syndrome. This trend (strangely enough) began with its namesake- Mary Shelly's subtle and philosophical novel was turned into a horror movie about a mindless killing machine.

Hollywoods dumbing down of great science fiction stories reaches a new low in "I Robot". Issac Asimov wrote the robot stories as a reaction against the typical killer robot stories that were the staple of early sci-fi:

"I became tired of the ever-repeating robot plot... I saw them as machines...They might be dangerous but surely safety factors would be built in." - Introduction to "Robot Visions"

What were the writers thinking, when they discarded the most fundamental idea of Asimov's stories? The sad truth is that they didn't think about it at all. The studio wanted to make an FX heavy summer spectacular about killer robots, and tacked on Asimov's name to lend the film a patina of Sci-Fi legitimacy. I thought the film was an insult to Asimov and his fans.

(One further observation. Prejudice is a central theme of the movie, so why are all the scientists white?)

  2. I believe that everyone has seen stellar phenomenon as everyone has seen stars burning in their life cycles.

I do happen to see the the sun at least once a day. But seriously, besides Hale-Bopp and Halley's comet I was lucky enough to see something pretty rare. My sister and I saw an awesome meteor a few years ago. It looked like a huge fireball streaking across the sky. I found out later from my college astronomy professor that this meteor was actually well documented and had hit somewhere in upstate NY.

  3.

Once T'Pol resigned from the Vulcan High Command, her only 'rank' came from Enterprise.  In other words she could only be considered a 'Sub-Commander' from the moment she joined Enterprise.  That is, since Trip was a Commander from before that time, (see Broken Bow - before the launch), he outranks her and should be first officer.  And that is even if you swallow the idea that anyone can be First Officer, even though they aren't an 'officer'  An officer doesnt wear a selection of civilian catsuits.

I think it should be obvious (why a scene wasn't written for it- we'll never know) that Archer requested T'Pol for his first officer, and that Adm. Forest granted his request.

Keep in mind that Starfleet in this time period is more like NASA than the Navy, or Marines.

  4. Keep in mind this came from Fox News, they aren't known for being accurate.

I've actually found Fox to be more accurate and reliable then any of the other networks.

Sorry, I guess I forgot about the "Fair and Balanced View" that Fox takes. Check out Robert Greenwald's documentary "OutFoxed".

  5. I don't know where you went, but I've gone to Suprnova.org hundreds of times and never had any problems. I've been before and after I switched to Mozilla with no problem. Are You sure you didn't go to SuprNova.com?

  6. I was talking to the Mothman the other day about whether the Loch Ness Monster could survive in an inland fresh body of water. Bigfoot said that Loch Ness was connected to the sea only a couple thousand years ago so it's possible that a thriving community of pleisosaurs could survive there. However, Chubracabra said Loch Ness is too poor in resources to support a population of large aquatic creatures. I pointed out that Puerto Rico was to small to support a population of Chubracabra's, but he wasn't hearing it.

Bigfoot said that his cousin "Yeti" has lived in the Himalaya's for many years without being found- so other creatures could also have escaped detection.

    What do yoou think?

  7. "A ratings dog"

Enterprise hasn't posted spectacular ratings, but it's been up against some stiff competition, like American Idol and Smallville. This sound bite makes it sound like Enterprise is desperate for any ratings boost. They don't mention the huge fan response to Enterprise's cancellation scare, or the fact that Shatner is the one who came up with the idea of bringing Kirk back.

Keep in mind this came from Fox News, they aren't known for being accurate.

  8. You may have thought that I would vote for Shatner- but you would be very much mistaken. George Takei is my honey bunney. It drives me wild when he strips his shirt off, and when crew members pick up pieces of china.

When hot tea is spilling down your chest George, is when I want you!

  9. I'm the only one of my friends who actually eats meat. I can't help it, it's written into my genes- this may not be an excuse, but I'm a southerner. I need deepfried catfish and bacon to live!

My best friend is a diehard vegan, who keeps trying to make me stop eating meat. But I just can't. Even after he almost burned down my apartment by leaving a Bocca Burger in the microwave for 4 hours and 30 minutes (Instead of the 4min.30secs like the directions said.) But that's another story.

  10. Whoops!  So many people watched her video that she ran out of bandwidth.   Hightee's going to ask the entstcommunity site to host it. She said they said yes so it should be back up within a day or two hopefully.  You may or may not still be able to right click and download.

I wanna see! When's it going to be available again?
