  1. Was Lt. Reed pulling the old Kirk maneuver on the Andorian Talas?

This was a really good episode- I can see the Federation coming together just listening to Archer and shran kick back with a drink.

I think they both knew (and respected) what the other was dealing with in this episode- and that is what made it so good- the unspoken dialogue.

  2. Five was pretty bad - Roddenberry concidered the story of Spocks brother to be apocraphyl. But three was BAD! It was so bad it actually became good in a campy way. So I affectionately nominate "The Search for Spock" as the worst.

    KLINGON BASTARDS!

  3. No contest-

As much as I like Picard, Capt. Kirk is the original.

The man is a hoss, just watch him in a fist fight (he invented Star Fleets deadliest move, the double handed karate chop!) And he's a devil with the ladies.

I am disappointed that Archer was excluded.

  4. I read the first book of the Butlerian Jihad, it was very different from Frank's Dune. I saw the second book is out now, but I'll wait 'til it comes to the library.

I thought Brian's trilogy of Atreides, Harkonnen, Corrino was well thought out and well written, but it didn't jibe with Frank's books. And the "Butlerian Jihad" was a very good book but it was so different from the Dune series as to be in a different genre.

Let me know what you think of the new book. I can't wait to read it but I'm not about to pay $30 for the honor.

  5. Could the Butlerian Jihad begin in the Star Trek universe?

    Is it possible if:

    1) the Borg took their assimilation to it's logical conclusion

    2) Lore was reassembled

    3) if the LCARS went crazy (think Richard Daystrom)

Dune started thousands of years after even Crewman Daniels time, so it seems possible to me. If anyone can think of ways to link the two series, or a great reason why they could never coexist, post them here.

  6. What's the Hallmark ornament this year? I have the Gallileo 7 with Nimoy's voice that my Mom gave me like 10 years ago. I didn't know they were still making new ornaments.

I got myself Warp 11's first album "Suck MY Spock". If you haven't heard it yet, go to Warp11.com and order it immediatley. These guys rock! :dude:

  7. That is a tough one, there are so many great episodes on the list. Carbon Creek was a great idea that became a great episode. First Flight- I can't even begin to list the many things that made it great- but David Carradine would be # 1.

Who am I kidding, the entire season 2 kicked butt.

  8. Broken Bow should be in a separate catergory for this poll.

We all love The Cage and Farpoint, but they aren't really regular season shows.

From that standpoint- Andorian Incident is the hands down winner.

  9. Saddam Hussein will go down in history as one of the worst dictators of the 20-21st centuries. We Americans should not celebrate this- that is the right of the people of Iraq. Instead, we should honor the memories of those who died at Saddams hands, particularly the Kurdish people who were the target of genocidal attacks by Saddam's Iraqi troops for decades.

Our troops did their sworn duty, and did their best to protect the people of Iraq, and for this let's honor them. But keep in mind that there is still no evidence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, or any link to 9/11. In fact, there is more evidence against there being a link between Hussein and the bombing than there is for it.

The capture of Saddam is a great event, let it not keep us from seeking the truth from our own government.

  10. I just read the production report for "Doctors Orders" on ST.com. Phlox is a great character, but how many starring episodes does he need. Let some of the other characters have a little prime time, too.

Travis had one episode to himself last season, and all he has gotten this season is an occasional "Aye Aye, Captain". The rest of the cast have had their 15 minutes, but this will be about the 4th Phlox episode.

I want to find out more about the MACOs. We haven't even found out how many are on board, or how they like serving on Enterprise. We shouldn't have to wait until February sweeps to see how they are responding to their mission.

An even more radical idea would be to see how all the characters come together in a crisis. We haven't seen the esprit de corp on Enterprise that characterized TOS and TNG. The writers tend to either isolate the characters or pair them off, how about some team work? Lets see some strong CAST shows from now on.

  11. Has anyone heard a release date for Trekkies 2?

There were several articles about the new movie on TrekToday.com a couple of months ago, and then it dropped off the radar.

Have they gone into post-production? Will it be released in indy theaters, or go straight to video? If so, when?

I hear the European fans are more nuts than us Yanks- especially, the Austrailans and the Germans. I can't wait to see it.

  12. It seems to me that you're arguing against your self. Thrusters in the front of the ship would do the same thing as in the rear, regardless of the the amount of thrust they produced.

Additionally, ships usually use impulse power to move away from large massy objects, such as a planet (granted, not all the time, but in most instances). So it makes sense that impulse engines would have a hard time moving out of a strong gravitational pull, even though the ship itself is in a frictionless vacuum.

This may have nothing to do with what you are talking about, if so please disregard the above.

  13. I just bought an NES system at the thrift store a couple months ago. I only paid $7 for the system itself, and you can find great deals on Ebay for games.

If you are REALLY interested in the old gaming systems, you're going to have to invest in an Atari. You can get games cheap for the 2600 on Ebay,( but you'll get the best deals at flea markets and yard sales you just have to put in the time). If you're really interested send me an email and I'll tell you the best place to buy used equipment on the east coast.

P.s. If anyone has instructions to the Atari 2600 Star Trek SOS game, please let me know.

  14. I have hated this theme song from the time I saw the first episode of Enterprise, It actually made my sick to my stomache to have to listen to a ***** '80s power ballad everytime I watched Star Trek. Where did the noble classical score end up?

I think it's some where between Rick Berman's butt-crack and Brannon Braga's cousins - sisters- brothers best friends band.

I love the show (don't get me wrong), however, the 80's reject singer needs to to go, and the new mix won't do it.

  15. The question should be, do you like time travel in any Trek series?

Why didn't Kirk kill a juvenile Khan in "The Voyage Home"?

Why doesn't Sisco try and stop WWIII in "Deep Space Nine"?

(Most Importantlly) Why can't the writers decide on an official Star Trek time line, similar to the Dune series.

Why? Because Star Trek is the combined effort of hundreds (maybe thousands) of people, all of whom want to tell the story in there own way. I think this is Treks greatest strength.

It is what keeps me glued to the TV every Wednesday night, and makes me get my lazy butt to the library several times a week.

I like the way Diane Duane has the Vulcans meeting Humans in "Spock's World" better than the official version al la "First Contact", but it is an unspoken rule that if it's in a movie or series it is "official". And the whole series depends on "First Conatact" as a reference.

  16. I've started to read the pre-Dune trilogy by Brian Herbert, I've been very impressed so far. I will always love Frank Herbert's series (his son will never come up with a more compelling character than Leto II) but he does a freaking great job! When I saw the new trilogy in the library, I was very skeptical, but after reading House Atreides I was hooked again. I would like to hear critiques from other Dune fans.

  17. That was definitely the most (ahem) messed up episode of Star Trek (any series) that I've seen. The moral implications of what Archer and Phlox did makes Kirk and Picards "Prime Directive" dilemmas seem trivial.

This episode has continued the overall upward trend of Enterprise episodes this season. After a disappointing start, this season has really started getting interesting. Maybe this is Berman and Bragas master plan, put all the crap episodes out early and leave the good ones for mid to late season.
