  1. We're getting close ...

I am told editing is complete on the teaser and acts 1 through 3. Act 4 is all that's left and last weekend we had to do some pick shots in the corridor.

This meant the production assistant crew got together again (with James, Gooch and some new friends) to assemble the corridor in a "local" school.

If you're interested, I whipped up a quick page with a few pics from the day and a quicktime parorama (of sorts) of the set. Check it out at 08-14-04 Pickupsgratdoor.jpg

Also, awhile back we released the name of another guest star...

"Commodore Jose Mendez" or "Senator Pardek" or ...

  2. The first trailer (comercial/preview) has been released and it will knock your socks off! Bop on over to the NEWLY REDESIGNED website at 5yearmission.com and click on the link to it's download links in the message boards.

I'd love to hear your comments...

  3. I guess having Gene Jr. endorsing your project should quite those voices that cry copyright infringement.

I look forward to the next installment. Maybe STF can cover shooting of one of your episodes sometime in the future for a feature article on the site. I'm sure everyone would be interested in some "inside scoop".

Personally I would love to see some online, on the set coverage, but a few things hinder such happening currently.

First off is the "Top Secret" script and such. We have to be VERY careful what info and pics are release in order to keep the script, guests, ect "secret" until the release. As much as I hate to admit it, even though I would like to know as much as possible about new releases, that knowledge can sometimes damage the excitement of the film. Being somewhat "in the dark" can be fun too. (Although I would NEVER give up being involved with NV!) Once the episode is out for public viewing we're free and clear... Until that point...

Secondly, the location of the sets are not "up-to-speed" on internet access Having an online reporter on the set while filming wouldn't give anyone much of a scoop. If you check out the message boards and the writer's "corner"you'll read of Erik's learning how to deal with the lack of high speed internet and such.

Thanks for allowing me to share what I can here for our fellow fans! I'll keep you all updated as much as I am allowed to...

  4. News clip featuring "Rod" Roddenberry on the set of Star Trek New Voyages during the recent filming of episode II is now online as a Windows Media Format clip. You'll find the link on New Voyages message boards...

"The Roddenberry name has to be attached to this. It is the closest thing to Star Trek since the original series..."

    (Quote from interview.)

  5. Sunday we finished the majoity of filming for episode 2.

Having Rod on set for the last week was "surreal" as many put it. He is a fantastic man and anyone who gets a chance to meet him will be blessed as we were for 7 days.

While Rod was with us he was interviewed by several media and the one thing he kept saying was, "... This is the closest to Star Trek since the original series... the Roddenberry name had to be attached to it." We are still stunned at this awesome compliment.

  6. What sort of camera are you using to film these episodes?  Is it relatively easy to do low depth of field focusing?  Also do you use industry standard lighting?  Is most of this equipment rented?  I'm a film student, so naturally I'm very curious.

That's a question for our director. I understand links are no longer permitted in this area, so you can either do a search for Star Trek New Voyages or jump on over to the "Links to other sites" (last forum on in the Promenade section) where I'll post a link to both the New Voyages site as well as my personal site with daily pics from the set.

  7. What's with the "technicolor character" ?

If I were to post all pictures taken while filming, I might reveal some of the many "suprises" we have in store... so you'll see some creative blocking from pics I post from time to time...

  8. Thought I'd give you a little "proof" as was asked earlier...

Here are a few pics of Gene, JR sweating right along with the rest of me and my PA crew. He jumped right in on his own. Can't thank him enough for his help. We were all a bit exhausted and dreading moving the corridorset (by foot) from one studio to the other until he jumped in. his energy perked everyone back up.

    Thank you, Gene!!!

  9. Got home VERY late after filming on day 4 and didn't have the energy to post , had to get a few hours sleep...

Day 5 & 6 are set redesign and construction days. Not sure if we'll have any pictures of those... But keep watching, you never know!

Here are a few pics from day 4 of filming.

  10. Hi,

does anyone know why the 5yearmission web site is down?

    SI2000

Jack Marshall, director and webmaster of New Voyages, is curently on location for another week or so filming with very limited internet access. Whatever problem there is will be recitfied once he's back in teh editing studio.

  11. I am not going to bother seeing the next episode, due to the fact after I downloaded the first, I got spyware that came from the site. I am put off when someone does this to anyone.

I am curious where you downloaded our first episode from. We've had over 4 million downloads so far and this is the first time I've heard about spyware attached to our files.

  12. We are shooting for an August release this year.

I thought it was kind of funny that Rand always had her face covered when the shots were taken.

We are keeping the storyline "top secret" but I can assure you it's a whopper!

Once more of the cat is out of the bag we will be able to release many more behind the scenes shots.

I'm going to do my best to keep daily picture updates coming.

I better stop typing and get my but back to the "studio".

    Keep watching!!!

  13. In my excitement for our first day of filming, I forgot to bring along my camera! I had hoped to be able to post a pic or two from that historic moment but will have to wait until to night to snap a few shots.

Hopefully tomorrow I can give you a peek!

  14. If he permits, I'll post a pic or two while he's with us filming... My initial post here had links to New Voyages web site as I was unaware of the change in rules on links in posts.

It has been beemed to the links forums.

Exciting times ahead for us at New Voyages!!!

  15. We're at it again! For the past several months we've been working on our second episode and hoping to up the ante a bit. I believe we have!

This past weekend we officially announced that, drum roll please...

    :laugh:GENE RODDENBERRY JR :P

has signed onboard as an Executive Producer!

This is just one of many exciting developments in our Star Trek: New Voyages project that we can reveal now.

Filming starts this weekend on an incredibly fantastic script that I, personally, believe will blow you all away!

  16. It was asked what I thought of this whole copyrights thread ...

We have gone over and over and over and over and over this so many times on messages boards and some people just won't give up... Which is thier right. But... I, personally, have no more to say on the subject.

We feel there is no need to continue to feed the naysayers responses just so they can continue with their posting. We have done what we have done and have also done our research.

If you don't want to watch the episode, don't watch it. That is your perogative. We are NOT trying to hurt ST:ENT in any way. We watch it weekly and in fact this past week's episode cawleyent and I were a bit confused as to why people tought it was such a bad episode. We watched it right after I got to see the final edit of NV and we were honestly pulled into thte story and enjoyed it...

What was it that Gene gave the Vulcans? Something called the philosophy of "IDIC" or "Infinite Deversity in Infinite Combinations"... What a boring world it would be with out that...

  17. We are proud to announce that all the final edits are finished and New Voyages will be ready for release this Saturday!

If you are familiar with Newsgroups, it would be appreicated if you could download the episode though them. It will be posted and ready to download via Newsgroups a few hours before 12:00am EST. At 12:01am, EST it will be available via the multimedia link at www.5YearMission.com.

Newsgroups we are posting the episode to include:

    alt.binaries.startrek

    alt.binaries.multimedia.startrek

    alt.binaries.mulitimedia

    alt.binaries.mulitimedia.scifi

    alt.binaries.dvd

    alt.binaries.movie.divx

Finally, if you're looking for high quality versions of the trailer, they are NOW available in the "newsgroups". High quality DiVX encoded files (as well as Windows Media files) have been posted.

    A quick side note:

There is quite a bit of excitement in Czech Republic Sci-Fi world over New Voyages... And with the european method of date stamping our release date revealed something we didn't even realize until we saw a banner they created...
