  1. That dollar amount that I mentioned was only an example and isn't the total amount we've gotten. I just pulled a number out of the air as an example.

As for the upkeep of the board there's different aspects to the costs. I pay the server (Invision) $600 a year to host STF. The Chat room is $100 a year and the Gallery is $60 a year and the domain name (STF) is either $15 or $30 a year, I forget how much it is but it's one of those 2.

The $600 a year that I'm paying to Invision has gone up from $119 a year to $600 a year in just 18 months. The reason for the large increase in the fee is because of the growth of the site, the larger we grow the more demands the site places on the server (the host computer we're based on) and the more they charge lol.

As it is right now we're averaging about 5 million hits per month and that causes a lot of traffic which uses a lot of the host computer's resources. As that resource load grows I have to upgrade the boards service package to keep us online. Right now I think we're set for a while until we have to upgrade again.

On one hand I'd love to have to upgrade again because that would mean we have A LOT of new members but on the other hand if we have to upgrade again the service fee I'll be paying will skyrocket up to about $1440 a year  and I don't even like to think about that lol.

Anyway, I hope that answers your question.

As you can see, it is a lot. And that was 2 years ago. Imagine what he pays now...

I'm getting a check card again so I can be able to donate more money.

  2. He always had sensations when dealing with Borg Missions and there's movies about him and the Borg.

I've always thought this was a lot of rubbish. All of a sudden in First Contact he can "feel" the Borg. Funny how he couldn't "feel" them in previous Borg episodes that occurred after Best Of Both Worlds. For example, the Hugh episode ( I suck at episode names). He didn't know any Borg were around til Riker told him from the crash site. I count this as one of the big flaws in First Contact.

maybe it was the precense of the borg queen?

Yes, just like Seven of Nine in Dark Frontier. The Borg Queen was sending her visions and communicating with her, just like Picard.

  3. 1. Are you flying or driving? That's a major issue - do you have any idea how monotonous I-95 is or how tedious a drive that long would be?

    2. Does the city you're going to have public transportation and would you have access to it from your hotel?

    3. Have you done any research to see if there are any interesting sites in the city you'll be visiting?

Personally, I love being home alone and I hate taking car trips where I have to depend on other people to get me somewhere - (especially if I'm not overly fond of one of those people to begin with). So unless I knew I could get around on my own while I'm there - I'd stay home.

Now if you can get around on your own - then go and make the best of it.

Of course, I have to ask why go all the way there to figure out the cost of living - get a newspaper or even check the classifieds on the internet. You can figure out the cost of housing and the average salary pretty easily without leaving home.

    1- They're driving.

    2- I have no idea

3- The Carolinas are supposed to have great beaches, but with the weather being 65F... :P

And I won't be alone. My big brother and little sister are staying. My sister will go to school on Friday but be home all day on the weekend. My brother also works in the morning but he's mostly out all day long. On the weekend we can't even bribe him to come home. As for going around two strange cities by myself, well... :yahoo:
