Great point!
You just listed another reason why you have me convinced he is purely gay and not a bi-sexual. -
I proudly second that

Yeah, but that was after the time of Kirk and Koloth's meeting at Space Station K-7.

Yeah, but stupid or not(there has been no evidence or testimony as of yet at least that this was an instance of a tiger being antagonized) the zoo is responsible for animal attacks and as such their needs to be some way to lessen these incidents or at least let people know that from now on if they happen, the zoo will take no responsibility for dangerous actions such as these. In a way, there may have to be a warning on the tickets much like McDonalds warns people on their coffee cups that the coffee is very hot

I honestly liked Ezri better than Jadzia. Ezri came across as genuine and imperfect. Jadzia on the other hand was almost too perfect and at times pretentious. I may upset Jadzia fans when i say this, but when my boy Dukat greased her, I thought it was a good move for the series and for the Dominion to move one step closer to victory.

-
There are so many unanswered questions here. The facts are that one 17 yr old boy and one tiger are dead. 2 brothers are seriously injured. Now, how do zoos improve security for dangerous animals and even prevent others from antagonizing animals?
-
You got me convinced

-
No, but I think they were hoping that Sela would become a recurring character because the staff at TNG always wanted Crosby to return and this was one way of doing it.
-
Now, I am convinced that Garak and Bashir were involved and lovers. It makes sense. If everyone else has the sense to be with a beautiful woman, then why would Garak and Bashir enjoy each others company so much that they eschewed relations with the likes of Leeta and Ziyal? It is obvious to me now --Garak and Bashir were lovers.
-
The only real similarity between Jadzia and Riker is that Jadzia was just as much if not more a horndog than Riker was....... :lol:Truer words have never been spoken

-
Exactly. The more we discuss this, the more I am beginning to believe Bashir was "involved" with O'Brien and Garak.
No guy in his right mind would just give up Leeta. -
huh, I never considered that.
Perhaps, you're right, but then again I was always about Leeta. How could Julian pass her up? that just seems like more evidence that maybe Garak or O'Brien were more than friends? -
Thats a good point. If only Garak had better taste than Bashir
 -
I may be in the minority here, but I thought the idea of Sela was a fresh take on throwing yet another curve ball at captain picard. I for one, liked the character.

True, other species could make that claim, but in the case of the Vulcans, there actually is a TOS ep which indicates there were Federaton vessels comprised of entirely Vulcan crews. In the "Immunity Syndrome" ep such a vessel existed.
I wouldn't make the claim that the Klingons were such experts at fighting the Dominion, for all their prowess with a Bat'Leth, they sure couldn't remain calm under pressure like a Vulcan could and they couldn't singlehandedly bring down the Dominon. That was only possible because of a group effort from many species. Still, though it is possible that the Vulcan ship had another specialty other than direct combat. Perhaps, the Vulcans were used for surveillance or scientific research regarding the Dominion. Who is to say? Besides, Vulcans are at least as strong as Klingons and from what we've seen in eps, they do handle themselves expertly in combat.
It would be nice if some of these details were explained in the eps produced. Now I see why studios aren't paying these writers better

I hope the deputies that rescued him went out for a drink later
... or took a nice hot shower to get rid of the smell. -
Thats a good question, SeeingEyeBorg. There was mention in TOS ep "The Immunity Syndrome" of an all Vulcan ship being destroyed by what amounted to a big space parasite that eerily resembled the light show at a Grateful Dead concert.
Perhaps, it was established that most Vulcans feel more comfortable serving with other Vulcans due to issues of emotionalism, pon farr rituals, etc? Or did Starfleet assign a purely Vulcan crew to one ship because of their expertise regarding a specific area of fighting the Dominion War? I wish i had a definitive answer for you, but I guess we have to hope for an answer.... one of these days  -
I think that the rich people of today would be bribing anyone they can to get off the ship! The Astor's are a remarkable family. They are still making headlines today!
Interesting Titanic Fact:
Most people don't realize that the Titanic was not exactly a unique ship. She was an "Olympic" class liner and she was one of three identical ships. The first ship was the "Olympic". The Olympic was the ship that got all the fanfare when she was launched because she was the first of these new super-liners. The Titanic was launched over a year later. The Olympic was the only one of the three ships to have a long career. Her nickname was "Old Reliable". Interestingly enough, Captain Smith was the captain of the Olympic before he transferred to Titanic. When WW1 started, the Olympic was reassigned to the British navy and became a troop carrier ship. She distinguished herself during the war by actually ramming and sinking a German U-Boat. After the war, Olympic was returned to the White Star Line to be used as a cruise ship. She was eventually converted from a coal burning ship to an oil burning ship. After a long and successful career , she was scrapped in 1935. Her fixtures were sold and are still in use today in several hotels and restaurants in Europe.
The other two "Olympic" class ships did not fare so well. The second ship in that class was the Titanic. We all know what happened there. The third ship was the "Brittanic". The Brittanic was never used as a cruise ship. While she was being outfitted for her maiden voyage, she was commissioned by the Royal Navy to be used in WW1. All of her brand new fixtures were removed and she was converted into a hospital ship. Brittanic served less than a year when she struck a mine and sank off one of the Greek islands. Today, Brittanic lies on its side in only a few hundred feet of water. She is remarkably preserved. Unlike Titanic, Brittanic is still in one piece and is a prime example of the Olympic class ship. There have been several documentaries and even a movie made about the ship.
Cool facts. I continue to keep learning more and more about this fascinating topic.

This episode was hard to sit back and enjoy due to the whole temporal paradox going on here and the selfish acts of Odo. Really, what was so hard about him just expressing his feelings to Kira. Did he have to sacrifice that entire colony just to have a chance with her?
AMEN. This is what bugs me about TV sometimes. Every now and then some idiot will justify sacrificing everyone else simply for a chance to be with the object of their affections (and usually the object "just wants to be friends").
8,000 people died. Whew...that's too many. I mean, I was okay when Odo simply was crushing; he had some redeeming qualities. But this was overboard. Had he been a Vulcan, this would have never happened.
Furthermore, the one good thing about this ep is that Kira is willing to die for the 8,000, which is cool, cuz I usually associate her with being a selfish ho.
Good point
This ep really showed that Kira had more redeeming qualities than we were led to believe. -
I never cared at all for the Bashir character- he was as worthless to DS9 as Malcolm Reed was to Enterprise! That is not a statement I throw around lightly.Bashir's friendships were a bit strange, but then again he was a strange character imo. His free time seemed to be spent more often with O'Brien. One can only speculate why?
-
My understanding about any character on star trek was that if it wasn't specifically mentioned in an ep, then it wasn't considered part of canon by the powers that be at Paramount. However, based on remarks made by Bashir, I think it is safe to assume that he was either gay or bi-sexual and possibly O'Brien and Garak were as well. We may never know.

From my perspective, it would have been boring and quite confusing to have a blonde-haired Romulan that resembled Yar, but wasn't related to Yar. Imo, it was quite a fresh, innovative idea to have a legacy of sorts from the ep "Yesterdays Enterprise" and in a way make Yar's "death" a little more meaningful this time around. Sela in many ways, picked up wher Yar left off. For example, Yar often mentined her tumultous childhood, yet turned out good. On the other hand, Sela mentioned how at times she was like a prisoner in her own home and yet she gave into her anger and hatred- effectively becoming the Yar we always knew existed beneath the surface, yet never was fully realized due to a sudden and worthless demise in the 1st season ep "Skin of Evil". The connection between the two was necessary for two reasons imo. 1) to add some real intrigue to TNG and 2) to give Yar fans a little closure while also treating them to appearances by the actress that portrayed her.
