    What we know about Tribbles

They're the sweetest creatures known to man.(According to Cyrano Jones. However, to be fair, if you're going to accept unscientific hearsay, then you can just as easily accept Worf's judgement that they are "detestable")

They purr when they like people-and they seem to like everyone, with the exception of the Klingons. (Based on their reaction to Odo, we must assume they have no inherent prejudice against changelings. However we are not laying any odds when it comes to the Borg or the Jem'Hadar)

    They have no teeth.

Their trilling seem to have a tranquilizing effect on the human nervous system.(It seems to have a similar effect on the nervous systems of changelings and ferengi)

Vulcans are immune to this effect.(Although not, apparently, half-vulcans)

    Tribble3.jpg

They are mature enough to leave to leave their parent after one day.(Per Uhura. Not a scientific judgement, but she appears to have been correct)

Almost fifty percent of their metabolism is geared for reproduction.(One can assume that the other fifty percent is geared for digestion)

The more they eat the more they reproduce. Conversely if you stop feeding them they stop breeding.

The good: they're nice, they're soft and furry, they make a pleasant sound, they do not talk too much.

The bad: they have no practical use, they eat a great deal, they seem to be born pregnant.

They are bisexual, reproducing at will.

They have a lot of will.

They are the only love money can buy.(More hearsay from Cyrano Jones, who, we are certain, has a bridge to sell)

They were originally developed in a predator-filled environment.

They are not dangerous.(Per Cyrano Jones, the definition of dangerous is of course relative)

They like chicken sandwiches and coffee.(You'd probably be hard pressed to find something that they didn't like)

    Tribble4.jpg

Under optimal conditions, the average tribble is capable of producing a litter of ten every twelve hours.

They are very perceptive creatures.(Per Spock, although this appears to be a very subjective evaluation)

They were once considered mortal enemies of the Klingon Empire, considered an ecological menace, a plague to be wiped out.(According to worf. He did not indicate when this judgement was made, but it seems likely that it was after Scotty transported the Enterprise's tribbles to the engine room of Koloth's ship)

Hundreds of Klingon warriors tracked them down throughout the galaxy, and an armada obliterated the tribble homeworld.(Again, all of these activities would seem to have commenced after Scotty transported the tribbles)

By the end of the 23rd century, the species had been eradicated.(Per Worf. Pretty nasty, but if it's any consolation, it could be propaganda, since no one in the Federation seems to have heard about this)

What we don't know about Tribbles

Prior to arriving at Deep Space Station K-7, how did Cyrano Jones keep his tribble population in check ?

How long can a tribble survive without eating ?

What is (or was) the average life span of a tribble on its homeworld ?

What is the name of the tribble homeworld ?

What's with this Klingon-tribble grudge match ? Who started it ? When ? Why are great big nasty ferocious warriors afraid of little fuzzballs anyway ?

How do tribbles chew grain with no teeth ?

How do tribbles dispose of waste matter ? Are they as messy as hamsters, or do they absorb every bit of nutrition from every morsel they ingest ? If reproduction is tied into nutritional input, is it also connected to output ?

Which end is the head on ?

Do tribbles have feet ? If not, how do they walk ?

How do they stick to walls ?

What does a naked tribble look like ?

What happened to the tribbles in Koloth's engine room ?

What happened to the tribbles on Deep Space 9 ?

If a tribble fought a Cardassian vole, who would win ?

  2. I change my computer wallpaper often. It usually has something to do with Star Trek. So what's on your computer desktop screen right now ? I just changed mine last night..

    Tigger's Background

I think Tig likes the 'girls' :naughty: I just have the Windows 'Space'.

;) Ya think so ? Was it that obvious ??

  3. One thing I was a bit disappointed with was:

    Click for Spoiler:

That they didn't use this chance to dedicate something to Crewman Cutler (Kellie Waymie). I think this would have been the perfect place to do it, instead of Trip doing it for some unknown crewman.

I agree with you VBG..I keep waiting for them to do something for Crewman Cutler/Kellie Waymire..What are they waiting for ??

  4. One of the best episodes of the season. I'm going to give it a 9.5..

    Click for Spoiler:

I liked Trips emotional scenes. About time he showed some emotion with regards to his sister. I just didn't like his attitude towards Degra..But I certainly understood the reason behind it..

I keep waiting to hear Crewman Cutlers name mentioned as one of the casualities..But it hasn't happened yet..

  5. Hey spacetigger, you have the coolist stuff and visit the coolist sites.

do you have the book quotable star trek ? ive been trying to get a copy but it never came to Aust

Yes, in fact I do have the book 'Quotable Star Trek' by Jill Sherwin..I believe I bought it on Amazon.com..A very good book..I enjoyed it immensely..

  6. I was devastated the other day when I dropped something onto my DS9 soft resin model and destroyed it !! It's ruined..! :wow: So what did I do ? What any trekkie would do..I went on E-Bay and found and won an auction for a AMT DS9 model..! It'll be fun to put together..

  7. The only ones I remember seeing is the Chapel in TOS episode 'Balance of Terror'..Like AE said..That's the only time I can recall seeing a chapel on a starship..Star Trek has always tended to stay away from religion..There was a Bajoran Temple on DS9 that Kira went to often..

  8. Yeahm his character got really good at the point where he splashes the Kanar onto the mirror, I also loved it when Worf kills Weyoun in his cell and later the new Weyoun comes to visit Damar and Damar chuckles and says "Maybe you should go visit Worf" or something like that LOL I about died laughing!

Yeah, I agree with you VBG..I almost died of laughter when Worf killed Weyoun and Damar was so funny with the next one..
