  1. i couldnt disagree with you anymore. pierce brosnan has really revived the series. all his movies, on closer inspection, are excellently written, with the exception of 'tomorrow never dies' and 'die another day', both of which i still quite enjoyed. i also love 'lisence to kill'. that is a terrific movie. dalton helped bring the series back to the way it used to be by actually taking itself seriously. in the ROGER MOORE days, the movies were quite stupid, with the exception of only a few. the only three moore bonds i have ever fully enjoyed are 'live and let die', 'the spy who loved me' and, 'the man with the golden gun'. the rest of the moore movies have too much slapstick, pathetic humour, and they try to go for the 'every scene should create laughter' technique. yuck. NOW THE BEST MOVIES ARE THE CONNERY MOVIES, with the exception of 'thunderball' and (ugh) 'diamonds are forever'. but, back to brosnan. 'goldeneye' was amazing. it really took good use of the cold war ending. also even though i did not like it at first, 'the world is not enough' was quite good. it had alot better writing some of the earlier bond flicks. die another day was great for the first half, and okay for the second half. the second half was much too unrealistic for my taste.

    anyways, heres my point:

brosnan is a good james bond. he has done a great job. bring on brosnan's 5th movie.

CONNERY ROCKS, LAZENBY IS GOOD, ROGER MOORE SUCKS, TIMOTHY DALTON ROCKS, AND PEIRCE BROSNAN IS GOOD.

whew. now thanks for letting me go on and on and on.  B)

Well, I agree on the Moore movies. I liked his first two, and then didn't care for the rest. They were too cheesy for my taste, even when John Glen (the same guy who directed Dalton's movies) took over as director.

Hmm, well I agree that Brosnan is good, but I feel that he has been wasted. Well, no need for me to rehash that. :)

I agree with your list there. Connery and Dalton are my favorites. I liked Moore's approach, but his movies took a turn for the worse after "The Man with the Golden Gun". Despite "Licence to Kill", I loved Dalton and wish he could have stayed on making movies more like "The Living Daylights" and less like the other one. Lazenby was good, too. But I think that has a lot to do with him being around such good actors like Diana Riggs and (I'm having a brain fart on the bald guys name. B) ), and the story was excellent. I would have liked to see him stick around for more.

I wouldn't mind seeing Brosnan come back in a movie more like Goldeneye (sans the political garbage) or Tomorrow Never Dies. Definitely not if it's another "Die Another Day".

  2. Out of what's on the list, Star Wars. The series as a whole is my favorite of all time. (Yes, even poor little TPM.)

Some other faves, in no particular order and by no means all inclusive of my favorites:

    Blade Runner

    Dark City

    Equilibrium

Lord of the Rings (both so far)

    Minority Report

    Alien and Aliens

    T2

    Both X-Men movies

    The Matrix

  3. He's ok but to be honest he is getting kind of old. :)

I sort of agree. The main problem, IMO, is that since Brosnan took over the movies have really been mishandled. For one thing, they're still essentially dumb movies, and yet the new ones have an aura of taking themselves too seriously. The older Bond movies had a sort of cheeky feel to them, whereas the new ones seem to be victims of the hype that surrounds them.

Another problem is the political nonsense that has been inserted into these movies, and the messages that they supposedly take to heart in certain key characters like M and Moneypenny. ( B) I guess the writers, etc forgot that Moneypenny was always after Bond, and that he mainly just flirted with her, not that he was harrasing her). At the same time, they want to keep Bond as the sexist pig, so they just make sure to have the Bond girls remind him that this is the 90s (or zeros now?) and his behavior is out of place. That is, when they're not rolling around in the sack like all the Bond girls who weren't as "intelligent".

Brosnan is okay as Bond, and I did like Tomorrow Never Dies, but overall I think he's been wasted on silly scripts. A lot of the problem was this idea that since the Cold War was over there wouldn't be the same sort of problems to deal with, so the new era of villians would be people like the evil Ted Turner. I hope they pick up on world events as they appear now, in a new script. There's a lot of good ideas that could be drawn from the world as it is today.

Sorry for the rant. I've been disgusted with Bond movies somewhat since Goldeneye. Well, Licence to Kill was a stinker too, and I really liked Dalton as Bond in the Living Daylights, but the face of Bond movies wasn't completely changed as they were once Brosnan took over and Bond was given the PC makeover.

  4. As most people will probably say, I didn't exactly like the Ferengi at first, but with Quark and all the other Ferengi, my view has completely changed. I love 'em!

About the same here. I never liked the Ferengi as featured on TNG, Voy or Ent. I loved the DS9 Ferengi, though. The DS9 writers were great at giving them some depth, and differing ideas. Which unfortunately is rare, beyond humans, in a lot of Trek species.

  5. Good, I'm not the only one afraid of bugs.

I used to have frequent nightmares where I was just doing...whatever (usually some sort of everyday task), when out of nowhere a swarm of bugs would crawl all over me.

I also hate big pictures of water or things in water, like underwater pics. I have no idea why, but I cower up whenever I see them. I had to force myself to watch the end of Titanic, and it freaked me out. Bleh. The other day, I was at the theater, and I saw that big poster for "Finding Nemo". It was right next to the restroom, but somehow I managed to get past it.

Hopefully, I don't seem too freaky now.

  6. He's definately Elrond. It was pretty funny...me and my friend were watching LOTR FOR, and we just stared and stared at Elrond with our heads on one side for like, half an hour, and then finally my friend yellled out "oh my god, thats agent smith" and we 'Oooooh!-ed" but then people started throwing things at us and making weird "shh-ing" noices, so we stopped....anyways, the actor's name is Hugo Weaving.

If you have TechTV, did you see the interview where he was asked if he got a paycheck for every Agent Smith he played?

  7. I would have preferred that Chuckles end up with Janeway instead. They had a lot more chemistry, and would have been a better match. Seven was emotionally still a kid, and needed time to grow up before being pushed into a relationship. While Janeway/Chakotay would have been much more mature, and sophisticated in a Jane Austen-like sort of way. (Mainly because of the way Janeway was written/portrayed early on.)
