  1. I had a hard time choosing one...Love Spock and Kirk and the rest of the gang but I picked Bones. In third grade the teacher passed out the spelling words for the week and it had the word bones on it. I began to cry because I think that was the week that 'Bones' was going to die, For the World is Hollow...I think was the eppy.

  2. Okay I'm throwing my two cents worth in. I've not been able to be on line much in the last several weeks due to RL...When I can get on, I check my mail and then get off because of time, which I don't have any of lately, lol. It's not that I don't want to come here, it's I just can't make it. I wish I could spend more time in here, but RL is RL and I can't change that. I sometimes check the board as a guest just to see what is being discussed and if I want to respond then I log in and respond, but most of the time it's the email, which is mostly spam lately anyway, even with the 'spam-killers' that they have, and then back to RL, which is what I'm about to do now. :eekout: I love this board and everyone here, but my family comes first.

  3. I don't know what I'd do. I'd like to think I could introduce my 'speci' but then maybe I'm not the right person to do that. :) I'd like to think that I'd run like h...e...double hockey sticks...(lol), but more than likely I'd hide and watch from like...oh I don't know maybe MIR...if I could get there quick enough...(is that station still in orbit?) :) I, like the rest of you, have seen tooooo many TZ, OL, and X-F. The one question I have is....Why do they want to come here to EAT? Yew! Now stealing our fossil fuels or gems or something that's like, USEABLE, that I can understand, but to eat? Naw, don't think so. Some of us eat WAAAAYYYY to much fast food to even taste good. It's all in our 'buns and thighs'. That doesn't sound very appetizing.

And to answer Shuttles' question...there are TONS of cool stuff, like the mountains, the oceans, the animals, the people, and A LOT of our accomplishments, such as flight, construction, what we've learned about our planet and surrounding planets, what we've learned about HOW our corporeal bodies work, etc., and so on...

    Okay, I'll shut up now.

  4. I'm having a hard time rating this one. I have the same complaints as everyone else here, the deleting of sensitive files, which should have NEVER been left open, *if they were* imo, ("These are the most sensitive of our files, please feel free to delete them if they displease you in any way, shape, or form. Thank you for using the NX-01 computer system.") the accessing of personal logs, (HELLO, how come Archer didn't have those password protected? I think our computer 'paranoid' thinking would be carried on into the 23 century.) and the pushing around of T'Pol. (lol) Sure, they rescued these people, but they didn't know them from 'Adam', and they shouldn't be roaming around the ship so freely. And after the dinner with D'J (sp) Archer should have realized he had a live wire on his hands and kept a close eye on him. He kind of brought the 'take over' of the ship upon himself by not protecting his people from the 'terrorists'. He's responsible for their lives and he blew it big time. I hated the preaching at the end, too. If they would have stuck with the 'lunitic fringe' idea, i.e. David Korresh, Jim Jones, I would have liked it better, but to slam someone for their faith is wrong. I'll have to watch the eppy again this weekend to refresh my memory, but I thought that Archer, in his dealing with someone he hardly knew; and an ALIEN race to boot, was way to angry. Trek is always preaching tolerance, for ALL things, but this one betrayed it's own words. You know, when you think about it, it lay in Archers' lap when it's all over. When you open the door to the 'devil' you'd better be prepared for the big fire that follows. That's an interesting analogy. Just thought of that one myself. :force:

It was a good eppy but there were some serious flaws that could have easily been repaired.

  5. [trekker Posted: Dec 27 2003, 06:26 AM]  i like the fact that a whole universe has been created; and just by using your imagination you can add to it too.
[ddillard Posted on Dec 28 2003, 10:40 AM]Why do I like Trek? In asking that question I just keep seeing the Apple Jacks commercials. "We just do."
[Alterego Posted on Dec 28 2003, 01:54 PM]It's not my first reason for liking Trek but I care for it because many don't. They have their "shows" (total crap) and I have mine. That may be totally illogical but it is a reason, you know what I mean?

For ALL these reasons and more!!!!! I like the first quote because I love using my imagination and adding to it! Something to make you go... Hummmm! It also helps to have the great 'eye candy'!!! Oh, and the chemistry between the characters too.

  6. Okay, my vote was for V only because I thought it could be a really good movie had Shatner used his head for the movie and not promotion...In my opinion. I realize that there are a lot of people involved in the making of a movie; but when it's the directors' "baby" then he's responsible. Hope I don't offend anyone.

Sorry I haven't been around lately. RL hit hard the last three months, I lost my Gramma, my Mother-in-law, and a family friend. Hopefully I'll be able to be around more now that things have calmed down...a tad. Now lets go see if I can remember how to 'personalize' this thing!

  7. I'm a trekker. They are actually different things.

Trekker: Watches the shows, and has some merchandise.

Trekkie: life revolves around trek, watches the shows religiously, attends conventions, has loads of video's and DVD's and much more merchandise.

Interesting...I'd always heard it the opposite way. Of course, if you called a 'trekker' a 'trekkie' they would go off on you because 'trekker' sounded more mature. I actually had that happen to me once. This girl snapped on me because I called her a 'trekkie'. She got really huffy and offended. Of course, that was many years ago when some were extremely testy about it. Now it seems that we've grown beyond 'name calling' and found that we all like the same show. :dude: By your def I'm a trekker, but everyone around me would say I'm a trekkie, except for the conventions. I haven't been able to make one yet. :dude: I will, one of these days. I really want to go to Las Vegas! I think that would be so cool!

  8. what do we use to establish real bonds of intimacy with someone who's more than casual to us?

That's a tough one, Unicornhunter. A very personal subject. There are many levels of intimacy that we probably aren't even aware of, and only the person or persons involved know where those bonds are or where they will take them. Sexual is only one way. I think the reason Trip took it wrong was because she bore her most private side. I realize that a massage is done nakey, lol, but even then you are clothed with a towel or face down on a table covered with a towel. Your most intimate parts are covered. Hers weren't, other than her hands. :) We have to realize they see each other 24/7, an 'intimacy' of some form or another is formed in those types of situations. Talk with men and women from any area of service and they'll tell you.

I hope they don't try and 'hook' T'Pol up with any of the lead characters. I'm really beginning to like her and if they start making her 'flirt around' it will ruin it for me. They didn't do it with Spock or Tvok.

    Just my O.

  9. I haven't been online much this week at all. I'm glad my topic has inspired some to comment. My problem with 'altering' a baby is that the individuality of the child would then be gone and the 'color' of life would go. (not meaning race.) Just because a child isn't up to someones' standards of 'good looking', or you are afraid they will be ridiculed in school because of their looks, isn't a reason for alteration. I have been around 'handicapped', or if you prefer 'retarded' children, or even the 'unlovely' and they have given me the most joy, and I don't mean happiness, I mean joy. They have been the sweetest, most tender people I've ever met. The reason, I think, is because they're okay with the way they look and love themselves the way they are. I would take a room full of the 'handicapped' or 'unlovely' to a room full of Tyra Banks. (Not meaning her personally, just the 'magazine perfect' image.)

I was the 'odd man out' so to speak, in school and I learned that everyone is 'ugly' in some way or another and no one is perfect. I wouldn't have wanted my mother to alter me; because then I wouldn't be who I am. Hitler tried to make a 'perfect race' and that didn't work. Individuals need to be who they are, and it's just wrong to change someone else, even if it is your own child. Their life will be totally different than yours. It builds who they are not what they look like. I know I'm probably opening a can of worms....

And I am watching the early Voyagers and I do like B'ELanna very much but this eppy really bothered me, that's why I posted. Just wanted to get it off my chest I guess. I thought her family was trying to make her a part by teasing about the bugs. What boy doesn't like to terrorize a girl? Especially if she screams like one! :) They just wanted to see her reaction is all. And if she hasn't grown up to realize that's all it was, then I guess, she hasn't grown up at all, and she's stuck in her childhood with all of those 'ugly feelings' of childhood. Just my PO. Love yourself for who you are, not for what you look like to someone else.

  10. :bow: :) :bow: :) :lol: :) :bow::bow:

I'm sorry, when this smiley was put on I fell in love with it instantly!!!! I love SW as much, or a little more than ST, only because of Harrison Ford.:bow: The original three not the newest ones, ewww, although they're okay, they're not my favorites. ST will always have a place in my heart because it was first.

    MHO.

  11. I just watched the eppy where B'lona (sorry about the spelling) found out she was preggers. Good eppy, but it made me extremely angry. To think that she wanted to 'change' her child ticked me off big time. That baby is going to have a totally different life than hers and what gave her the right? I know it's only a show but the idea of that made me mad. Just because she felt that way doesn't mean that her child will feel the same way. I think she was being over sensitive myself, but that wasn't the only thing that ticked me off. The fact that Janeway did nothing to punish her for her actions with the doctor. "Oh it's okay she's just pregnant and Klingon." If she can do that with the doctors' program what could she do with other programs on the ship? She becomes a liablity then, anyone could use her to over throw the ship using her sensitivity. Sorry this eppy really bothered me.

Voyager is growing on me, slowly but surely.

  12. I just finished watching Bringin' down the House with Steve Martin and Queen Latifa and I SWEAR I saw the Gaurdian of Forever on the table behind the couch!

It's the scene where she's teaching him how to get his wife back. Funny movie by the way!!!!

    Katy

    I love Steve Martin!!!!! :) :)

  13. I'm amazed that no one has said my fave yet... Balance of Terror. Loved it. Yeah Tribbles was a great funny one and City was a great love story but Terror brought in the Romulans. Of course, Amok Time was another that was fantastic. What about Enterprise Incident, Journey to Babel, and The Tholian Web? You really can't pick one...at least I can't. Those are some of my faves anyway.

  14. I voted married, and was totally surprised by how many singles there were. I've been married to Mark for 23 years, and we were good friends for 6 years before we were married. I love him with all my heart and wouldn't trade my life for anything in the world!

I'm with cptwright on this one...and I quote... "you need to find yourself, and love what you find, then you can be happy with another. if you dont love yourself, you cant truly love another, and they cant love you."

How can you love someone else if you don't love yourself? That's always been my 'mantra' if you will.

  15. I voted other because my fave pizza place is Tobin's, small mom and pop place here in Bloomington, IL. Great pizza! Hamburger, sausage, pepperoni, and EXTRA cheese! Oh another place around here is Monical's. If I can't have Tobin's I get Monical's!

Okay, now I gotta go eat something!!!!

  16. how could you not put in carls junior?

Carls junior?? Don't have that one in town, what kind of food? Tacos, subs, burgers, chicken??

Carl's Jrs used to be called Hardees...and in some places like around here, changed back to Hardees, yea! They serve burgers, roast beef, and broasted chicken. Their food isn't bad but when they changed names I didn't go as much as I used to. Don't know why, just don't go.

    Katy

  17. Do you mean Hardees or *name change* Carl Jrs? I've never heard of Harveys. I voted other because I love Blimpies Roast Beef and Provalone, HEATED! Gotta have a hot sandwich. As a teenager I used to work at the best fast food place, Mr. Quick's, until it changed hands and added all kinds of JUNK! It had the best double cheese burgers in town! Yummmmmmm! Of course, our Mr. Quick's is now gone due to road construction, and their food stunk! It was really bad before it closed. I love all the other resturants in the list too. Oh, there is a place around Atlanta, TX called Jack's. It's a small roadside, mom and pop resturant on the highway and they definately have the best cheese burgers. When we vacation in Rockport, TX we always have to stop at Jack's when we drive through. Don't know if it's still there though haven't gone down in the last couple of years. Oh and Whataburger's are good too! Only in Texas!!!

  18. I nulled my vote because I like them all. I do tend to lean toward the original 6. (Although 5 could have been soooo much better. :) ) I didn't like STTMP at first and I made that comment to someone. They told me to ff through the special effects and I'd like it better. Boy, were they right. I now like STTMP WITHOUT the special effects. I have the collectors additions of 1, 2, 3, & 4. :) Don't know if I'll do 5, and I do have Nemisis which is wonderful!

    Katy

  19. This is usually the first place I come to. Then there's the Emergency! web pages were I started out and have around 30 stories and Starsky and Hutch pages. I do have a lot of writing sites put into my faves but don't usually go there unless I'm in a writing mood. Which here lately is never!

It'll pick up again, I'm not worried.

  20. B) Hum, have to think about this one...I'd probably pay off all my bills...then invest it...and lastly I'd beg, and then pay for, Speilberg, and my huney Harrison to make a ST movie...I know, it's wishful thinking, but it is my $50 mil to do with as I please. I think Harrison would make a great Admiral, or a Klingon! Ooooo, just got chills thinking about it. He'd make a great Klingon! If Chris Lloyd can do it...Harrison can too! B) I'd hate to see that wonderful face covered with make-up but...just the thought of it...Harrison a Klingon...'sigh' Of course, he could just about do anything he wants and it would be okay with me! (Except date Calista Flockhart!) Eeeewweeeeee! But if she makes him happy then I'm all for it...sorta.

    Katy

PS I know that Harrison gets at least $25 possibly $30 mil per pic so I'd have a little to play with...
