Jim Phaserman 0 Posted February 16, 2004 A little bit of information on the Valderan Navy. The Navy is the rough equivelent of Starfleet, though with a decidedly different approach. of the 2400 ships, 300 are designated for the exploration, research, and various diplomatic functions. the largest ships in the Navy are the three ships of the Kuologa class (Kuologa means Unbreakable). these ships measure 1430 meters long, 500 meters wide, and 115 decks tall. they are also among the heaviest armed ships in the quadrant. they carry 4 18" cannons, 20 16" cannons, 15 torpedo tubes and 40 5" cannons. Valderan disruptor cannons are measured by the diameter of their emitter in inches. an 18" cannon puts out about 2.5 times the power of a type X phaser, and a 16" puts out about 2 times as much as a type X phaser. the standard weapon for Valderan ships is the 12", which is of equivelent power to the Type X. the largest weapon is the 36" planetary defense cannon. producing an enourmous amount of power, these weapons can devestate large capital ships within just a few shots. the smallest ship in the Valderan Navy is teh Nimbla class corvette. at 112 meters long, 55 meters wide, and 3 decks tall, the Nimbla class is designed for convoy escort. armed with 3 12" cannons and 2 torpedo tubes, it is packing firepower. Captain Jean-Luc Picard 1 Posted February 26, 2004 Military: Navy (2400 Ships, 8,000 Starfighters and Bombers, 18 Million persons total) Army (10 Million Infantry, 15 Million others) Marine Corps (6 Million Infantry, 10 Million others [mostly Rulakans in Infantry]) From the above, I gather they do not yet have a space program beyond something similar to what we have. If they do, would you please tell us about it?

Lursa 0 Posted May 16, 2005 I would like to be a part of this. tell me more.
Gary Phaserman 0 Posted May 16, 2005 Well, Lursa, Valderans live an average of about 500 years. Presently, they are only found in one Star Trek RPG (USS Eros sim, PM me, Jim, or Lotti for more info on that). First known contact with the Federation was in 2295 when the Enterprise B stumbled upon a Valderan Destroyer near the M4765 system, about 4 lightyears from the Federation border. The Valderan education system is somewhat different than that of the local species (Humans, in perticular). Valderans begin school at age 3, and complete their secondary schooling at age 14, at which point they decide what they will do with their lives. Those who join the military enroll in Basic Military Training, which is a 4-year boot camp that all members of the armed services attend. Officers then attend the Military Academy of their respective service. What they do in the military determines what happens after the Academy. Engineers go through a 2 year Engineering program, Fighter and Bomber Pilots attend a 2 year training program, and doctors go through a 4 year medical program. On the civilian side, they go to a Junior College for 4 years from 14-18 years of age, then on to a University at 18. Depending on what they wish to do, they may attend further education after the University level, or they may skip the university level all together and go straight into a profession. The Ministry of Defense is the Empire's largest employer, with 64 Million active and reserve personnel in uniform, as well as another 100,000,000 civilians. Civilians in the Empire generally enjoy the same freedoms as those of the Federation. the Bill of Rights is essentially the same. the unit of currency is the Kurat, which is equivelant to 2 bars of latinum. Unlike in other cultures, the Valderan Military is paid quite well. Below is the pay (per half month) for the various levels of the Military. E-1: 1,500 Kurats E-2: 2,000 Kurats E-3: 2,500 Kurats E-4: 3,000 Kurats E-5: 3,500 Kurats E-6: 4,000 Kurats E-7: 4,500 Kurats E-8: 5,000 Kurats E-9: 5,500 Kurats WO1: 5,000 Kurats CWO2: 5,500 Kurats CWO3: 6,000 Kurats CWO4: 6,500 Kurats CWO5: 7,000 Kurats O-1: 6,500 Kurats O-2: 7,000 Kurats O-3: 7,500 Kurats O-4: 8,000 Kurats O-5: 8,500 Kurats O-6: 9,000 Kurats O-7: 10,000 Kurats O-8: 11,000 Kurats O-9: 12,000 Kurats O-10: 13,000 Kurats O-11: 14,000 Kurats O-12: 15,000 Kurats O-13: 15,500 Kurats (Only one officer ever holds O-13 <Warmaster>) Junior Cadets are paid 100 Kurats a month Cadets earn 250 Kurats a month. These pay scales are equivelent to similar jobs in Civilian life. For example, an Ensign would make roughly the same as a recent university graduate working at a major business. the Government has decided that Military personnel will be payed the same as the average salary of someone of the equivelent rank within the business sector. The Valderan year is 64 Earth weeks in length. this is because Valderis sits slightly farther out from Valdera, the star it orbits, than Earth does. The year is 8 months long, each month being 7 weeks. the Months are: Jakal, Koral, Nocral, Ogral, Gaghal, Frogtal, Iktalal and Sectal. Literally translated, they mean "1st Month", "Second Month", "Third Month" and so on (Al being the Valderan word for Month) phrases to know when visiting Valderis... Amy 0 Posted November 5, 2005 Hey, Gary, what is the average size of a Warship in the Valderan Navy? And What kind of equipment do the Marines take with them into battle? Also, what kinds of fighters and Bombers might one see if visiting a Valderan Military base?
