master_q 0 Posted January 17, 2004 (edited) Here's something neat if you have nothing to do: For my computer I have my DOS's prompt say . . . Directory Time Date How may I help you? Here's how you do it: C:\prompt $p$g$_$d$_$t$_How may I help you? (with a space after the "?" mark) The "p," "g," "d," "t," . . . mean: P = Drive / Directory (or sub) G = Greater Then (>) L = Less Then (<) T = Time D = Date You have to put in the "$" character before your command (for the p, g, l, t, d). Only put before and after when you use "_" to skip a line. You can change your prompt through DOS (Disk Operating System) but when you close the MS-DOS prompt in Win it will not remain. To have it stay there open autoexec.bat and add that prompt command to a new line. When you do this your prompt will be permanent and become your default prompt. (The autoexec.bat is just on the C:\ ) Master Q StarTrek_Master_@yahoo.com Edited January 17, 2004 by master_q
shadowfigment 0 Posted January 18, 2004 I knew about adding time and date to the DOS prompt, but not the text. I will have to make the changes to my Windows 3.1 / DOS 6.22 machine. Good times...
