Inspired by the diversity of different interests among the fans.

I think I captured the most important Trek obsessions in the poll but in case I didn't I did add an "Other" option.

I'll tell mine tomorrow.

Ships, ships, ships, and more ships.

Did I mention ships?

That's been my favorite aspect of ST since I was a little kid. I've always been designing my own, naming them, coming up with specifications and classifications, etc..., and I now surf the net for fan designs and canon ship sites. Got all the good ones I've found so far on my Favorites list.

I picked The Characters, because my favorite thing about Trek is seeing how humans react to, and interact with, the aliens they encounter. It's also helpful at my job, because I live and work in a culturally and ethnically diverse area.

How about 'All of the Above'!... ..In the end I went with the characters..That's what really makes great Star Trek in my opinion. The interaction between the characters and aliens is fascinating to me! Probably why I like TOS and DS9 so much..They seemed to me to be more driven by character relationships..

I've always loved the ships of Star Trek. Some of my favourite clips are from the heated battles of the Dominion War. I received Star Trek: Starship Spotter for Christmas and I really like the book. I was a little disappointed at the fact that some ships were excluded: Excelsior, Steamrunner, Sabre, Norway, Negh'var, Borg Cube etc.

I even have my own fleet of ships I've created. I call it the Federation Eleventh fleet and there are 250 ships  . All original names and registry numbers. I have way too much time on my hands.

Here's a sampling of my fleet: Lambda task force

U.S.S. Damar Akira NCC-59117 Lambda

U.S.S. Griffin Akira NCC-63671 Lambda

U.S.S. Gladiator Defiant NCC-73216 Lambda

U.S.S. Sting Defiant NCC-76898 Lambda

U.S.S. Crusader Excelsior NCC-36641 Lambda

U.S.S. Canadian Galaxy NCC-71216 Lambda

U.S.S. Henson Intrepid NCC-74319 Lambda

U.S.S. Normandy Nebula NCC-65013 Lambda

U.S.S. Toronto Norway NCC-67313 Lambda

U.S.S. Panther Sabre NCC-62581 Lambda

U.S.S. Unbreakable Steamrunner NCC-59110 Lambda

How about 'All of the Above'!...

Goood one! I should have added that and it best represents my "overall" feeling for the different obessions for Trek but the Characters are my favorite.

I' love the ships of Trek but I've never gotten into them in the same way as some fans and I'm not saying that's a bad thing.

Another good poll option I didn't think of till I logged off is "Continuity". I think this one is causing the biggest revolt among fans cause ENT not only steps on Trek continuity it grinds it into the ground. A seldom discussed Example: In TOS the starship Ent was exploring stars which are very close to (and visible from) Earth. These stars and the planets around them represented mans first steps into nearby space now ENT comes along and is supposedly exploring stars that are even closer than those TOS explored? I'd better hush now before I talk myself into disliking ENT.

*suddenly grasps at straws*

In defense of ENT is it possible they are exploring stars in the Southern hemisphere whereas TOS explored the Northern?

My favorite trek obsession is Jean-Luc Picard :)

Easy, isn't it? :)

Oh, and I voted for characters. I like most of them. There are a few ones I dislike, but I've always been interested in characters and their way in getting along with each other. I'm also interested in ships and stuff like that, but if I had to choose between characters and ships, I take the characters at first and ships at second.

For me it's "Other". That's because it's the entire "universe" that Gene Roddenberry created. It's the whole thing and it's things that are only perceived. It's the notion of humanity getting "out there" and becoming a respected leader in a community of alien races. It's the technology that seems so far fetched yet also seems so much a reality and in many cases actually becomes a reality. It's the personal relationships of the characters, the ships and the weapons and all those things that make Star Trek a very special thing.

I love everything about Star Trek the characters, aliens, ships, technology, way of life, wonderful storylines i could go on and on. I love the whole package, the thing that is Star Trek it's what has made people of all ages and backgrounds sit down and tune in for years. There are lots of sci-fi shows out there now and i like alot of them but to me Star Trek will always be the greatest. :)

The characters are great... the shows would be pretty dull without them. However, likewise, the shows would be nothing without the ships or alien threats. They just all combine to make an excellent show. However, the technology is my overall favorite.
