Kor37 9 Posted January 11, 2008 No F%&*ing Way: Mo. Town Wants to Ban Cursing in BarsJan 9th 2008 There's an expectation after you graduate from high school that people are finally going to leave you alone about your potty mouth. But the town of St. Charles, Mo. (which is near St. Louis) is actually considering a bill that would make it illegal to curse in bars. Lawmakers are trying to curb "rowdiness" among those hanging out at the town's watering holes, and are also looking at bans on table dancing, drinking contests and music with profane lyrics. Local bar owners are, understandably, not too keen on the idea of having their patrons' words policed. Marc Rousseau, who owns bar R.T. Weilers was quoted by the AP as saying: "We're dealing with adults here once again, and I don't think it's the city's job or the government's job to determine what we can and cannot play in our restaurant." A meeting is set for Jan. 14 to discuss the ideas, but we're just going to weigh in with our verdict now: F'ing BULL$%&T. Good Fu**&&% Luck With THAT!..... I mean you have a hardass day at work so you go to some (I'm trying to say a bad word but can't)ty hole in the wall bar to drink and curse and other (I'm trying to say a bad word but can't) and now they want to (I'm trying to say a bad word but can't) ban table dancing? Bethlehem 8 Posted January 11, 2008 I wish them luck, that was one of the reasons I quit going to bars. Some jerks would f this and that everyother word. Along with smoking it just got old.
Theunicornhunter 2 Posted January 11, 2008 Kor, you really know how to find the interesting headlines. On the surface this sounds pretty ridiculous but after reading about the rowdy drunkards causing the elephant to get shot - I can understand why towns would like to ban rowdiness. On the other hand - jerks have to have somewhere to hang out.
He Who Shall Not Be Named 2 Posted January 11, 2008 If you are against rowdyness then attack rowdyness. I hope the Supreme Court shuts this one down since it violates the 1st Amendment.
Theunicornhunter 2 Posted January 11, 2008 Not all speech is protected by the First Amendment so whether this particular ordinance does or doesn't violate the First Amendment would depend on part how the oridinance is worded
Kor37 9 Posted January 11, 2008 I'm pretty sure that 99.9% of the bar owners there will not enforce this.

I agree with you here 100%. Cursing is just a sign of immaturity.
