John Singleton To Direct 'The A-Team' For The Big Screen

While promoting the DVD release of 'Illegal Tender', in which he produced, and coming out on Dec.18, John Singleton has confirmed what LatinoReview.com had posted earlier; that he will be directing a big screen version of TV series, 'The A-Team'.

At the same time, he also confirmed that he will NOT be directing 'Executive Order: Six' as previously reported by trade outlets.

The TV-Show, which ran from 1983-87 and starred George Peppard and Mr. T, concerned an unofficial team of Vietnam vets wanted by the military for a crime they didn't commit. Their action-packed adventures combined helping the innocent while running from the law.

According to the site, The film has been in development for years, but only now is it finally gaining momentum.

Stephen J. Cannell, who created the show, will produce the movie with Spike Seldin.

Mark Silvestri will executive produce with Alex Young assigned to oversee the flick at Fox.

The new 'A-Team' will be updated from the Vietnam era and reflect contemporary issues and politics. Tone of the film will be less cartoony and more serious, in the vein of 'Die Hard' and 'Lethal Weapon.'

I pity the fool who's not excited about this!

I wonder if they'll have the same characters: Face, Murdock, Hannibal & BA just updated to the present or whether they'll use the same basic theme but come up with four totally different characters. Please, please, please don't do a Battlestar Galatica and turn "Face" into a woman.

Now, to speculate on who'll play what part.

I used to Love the original show! There was briefly a kid's paperback series of this show and some kids at a library I used to work for made a video booktalk of this reinacting some scenes from a book. It was hysterical!

Dwight Schultz of course also starred in this and was very funny as Mad Dog Murdock.

I wonder if the remaining original stars will get cameos?

Another show I only watched originally because nothing else was on.

I won't go see it but I may catch it when it airs on the pay channels.

2.0 liked it, but I never really got into it.

But, I would like to submit suggestions as to who should play who.

Hannibal Smith: Kevin Costner

B.A.: That big dude from the Green Mile

Face: Jamie Bramber (BSG)

Murdoch: Any whackjob.

Gummy - do men consider Kostner an action guy? He seems awfully wimpy to me.

My line-up:

Hannibal - Mel Gibson, I don't usually like Bruce Willis but he could do this role as well.

Face - No brainer here - Skeet Ulrich - most gorgeous human being alive.

BA - How about Linda Park with a buzz cut to make LVR happy

Murdock - Owen Wilson

I like your picks better than I do my own.

I'll go with that.

They wouldn't do that to Dirk Benedict twice, would they!?!?!
