Validus 0 Posted September 28, 2005 I thought the idea to do a second pilot was Genes, the Network rejected the first as "too cerebral", Gene pitched an idea for another pilot and they (network) gave the green light leading to them buying the series based on the second, WNMHGB. Anyway if there had not been a second pilot we might not have any Trek except for The Cage. As far as the question which Captain was better; Brooding Pike or bouncy Kirk I choose Kirk. We later got brooding in the from of Sisko. 61237[/snapback] In the special features for Star Trek: TOS Season 1 we find out the Jeffry Hunter left Star Trek because of his controlling wife, who felt that he was a "Movie Star" and that television was for second-raters. Ironically, Jeffry Hunter could have never predicted that he would be best known for a failed pilot of a cancelled television show.
