Odie 0 Posted April 24, 2006 This comes from favorite radio station in San Diego. It really works!!! Here is the unbelievable math trickMonday, April 24, 2006 at 10:39am Grab a calculator (you can't do this in your head). Put in the first 3 digits of your phone number (NOT the area code) Multiply by 80 Add 1 Multiply by 250 Add the last four digits of your phone number Add the last four digits of your phone number again Subtract 250 Divide by 2 Recognize the number? Ta-da!!!!!!
MrPsychic 1 Posted April 25, 2006 Pretty cool, math can do all sorts of things
Theunicornhunter 2 Posted April 25, 2006 Okay lets look at this if you look at what you're doing - when you multiply 80 * 250 you're really multiplying your first three digits by 20000 - but later when you divide by two you're really only multiplying by 10000 which added to any 3 digit number will give you ###0000 which is basically your first three digits plus the spaces (zeroes) where you'll add your last four digits. You add those digits twice because you'll be dividing by two so really you're only adding your last 4 digits to ###0000. The adding 1 kind of throws you off but you subtract the 250 (remember you added the one before you multiplied by 250) before you divide by 2. So in essence you're multiplying your first 3 digits by 10000, adding & subtracting 250, and adding your last four digits
