Trip (Connor Trinneer) will grieve for his sister and struggle to balance a need for revenge with his sense of duty to Starfleet. Seeking help from T'Pol, he may find himself more intimately involved with her than ever before.

I'm going to have to part opinions with you on this one, UnicornHunter. I don't think it's a bad idea at all but keep in mind that "intimately" isn't necessarily tantamount to sex. Trip and Jon are also "intimate." That's why their friendship appeals so much; there's heartfelt affection there that the audience feels. Trip reaching out for T'Pol to ask for help is a plausible reason other than lusting for her beaudacious ta tas for them to connect. It could be quite moving in terms of his emotional loss. I'm not against a little sex appeal that's not handled in a Beavis and Butthead manner but if Trip were to become close to T'Pol in the same way that he's close with Archer and Malcolm I'll be thrilled. B) They had a spark during season one. To romance or not? That can come later if the writers decide to pursue it. If not, that's okay, too. However, this closeness to come isn't dumb *buttocks* plot contrivance like Archer's horny dream in ANIS. It results from events of the plot. I'm intrigued. A darker Jonathan Archer intriges as well. I've got that posted in the season three news. I think I may like Archer once he sheds his boy scout sensibilities. Perhaps Trip and T'Pol will band together to help Jonathan. I'd like that. B)

I agree with MoulinRouge. Growth in the relationship of Trip and T'Pol is necessary. There's a rift there that needs to be addressed.

Think of it more like the realtionship between Bones and Spock. True, the fact that T'Pol is female affects the dynamic but the basics like friendship, respect and trust aren't dependant on sex. Kirk/Spock/McCoy was an incredibly strong triangle of friendship and platonic love that got them through many tough spots.

I want the same thing for Archer/Tucker/T'Pol. The triangle must be complete if they are to be strong enough to face what's ahead.

I also like the idea of a darker Archer. Brooding anti-hero indeed, sitting in the mess in the dead of ship's night, drinking scotch and watching the stars warp by, wrestling with the choices he has to make. I don't think Archer really expects to survive the Expanse. Oh, he'll fight to the last breath to protect his crew, but I think that he believes, or at least suspects, they will have to sacrifice themselves to save Earth. What do you suppose Trip and T'Pol are gonna think and do when they realize he's spiraling down?

Damn! I love this show. Come on September!

I don't like T'Pol; other Vulcan characters such as Spock and Tuvok have shown that Vulcan's can work at repressing their emotions while still developing respect for fellow officers and even developing friendships. As much as Spock and McCoy argued you knew they respected one another.

T'Pol is not that kind of Vulcan she's arrogant and condescending to humans and poor Trip in particular. Even if they roll in the hay she'll probably still talk down to him. But then again many human women do the same to their men so maybe he's out of luck no matter which way he turns.

I adore the idea of a darker Archer. Gosh, sometimes I'm surprised that Bakula hasn't walked off the set in frustration with the namby pamby material they've given him. It's a running joke on another BBS that Scott must owe Rick and Brannon poker debts that he hasn't paid off. B)

A darker Archer makes sense. It's time. His character carries the expectations and fears of Earth now. He's supposed to be in a cheery mood all the time when he has to deal with that? A dark Archer is an angsty Archer. An angsty Archer is a sexy Archer. B) Trip and T'Pol as his savior friends appeals and it makes sense in terms of story.

...he's spiraling down?

I guess I've missed something. I don't think he'd have ever passed the psych tests required for command if he was likely to go nutcase when the going got tough. I like the thought of a stronger and more serious Archer....he was waaaay too whiney before. He is sexy when he's kicking alien butt.

IMO I'd prefer they not take the Hamlet track. We'll just have to see.

Archer's taken psych tests? I thought he had the Ent handed to him on a silver platter because of who his daddy was (?)

Good grief you're more cynical than I am.

**after thinking about this I guess that's not really a cynical observation and I apologize for sounding abrupt - its just when I read it I was thinking how well that described the last presidential election... not the election day antics but the primary process etc.

No. Not Hamlet. Hamlet was in indecisive whimp. I was thinking more Philip Marlowe.
