FIRST AND FOREMOST: THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE RE MOVIES! DON'T BRING THAT IN HERE. THIS IS FOR CIVILIZED DISCUSSION.

I see anyone bashing the movies, I will immediately put them on my ignore list, no matter who you are.

 

For all who have heard of the third Resident Evil movie, it used to be known as Afterlife. Just a while ago it was announced to have changed it's name. It is Extinction now. Kind of makes sense, kind of doesn't. I liked Afterlife better, but if and when the fourth one is made, Afterlife would be a relevant title for it.

 

At the end of Apocalypse, Alice was rescued from Umbrella, but her powers have increased and Umbrella programed her with Project Alice. What happens next? Most people believe that Alice will be the enemy, and become some sort of Alexia, with Wesker fighting her. I myself would love to see Wesker in the movies. Maybe even a few more of the game characters, but not too much. Don't make this a Resident Evil: Unlimited with EVERY game character ever created. Jill, of course, Chris maybe, and hopefully Claire, Leon is a maybe, and Barry is a whatever. The IMDB plot for it is

Alice fights the Umbrella Corpation (yes, it's spelled this way) and their plan to replace humankind with a race of undead clones.

These "Undead Clones" have always confused me a bit. Why would Umbrella want to replace their stockholders with these creatures? Maybe that's why their stocks crashed and they went dead :lol:. Also what they are confuses me... but I'm sure this is IMDB mumbo jumbo to give us something to talk about. The most probable storyline is

Reports said the movie would be set in a post-apocalyptic world overrun with mutant zombies. The setting was the Nevada desert with the Aussie outback standing in for the American wasteland. In the final reel, the action would have shifted to Japan, setting up the fourth installment.

Which brings up those undead clones again. But mutant zombies could be anything. Even Crimson Heads (that would be cool!). But then again the plot can change so much during the making because now, not even all the characters have been picked out. Everything is just speculation at this time.

I like the first two movies, I have it on DVD. I think Chris should be in the next film and have him meet Jill. "Chris, where have you been?" sort of thing. Wesker would be cool, but he would already be bad since it's already past the first game in the story. He could be shown as someone working for Umbrella and not mention the mansion unless Chris is there as well. Then they could do a "I thought Wesker was dead?!" And have a flashback of the mansion. I doubt they would use that much time to explain everything.

He faked his death in the first game not only for Chris/Jill, but for Umbrella too. He defected and betrayed them.

 

Then they could do a "I thought Wesker was dead?!" And have a flashback of the mansion. I doubt they would use that much time to explain everything.

Wesker and Chris being mortal enemies and all, I'm sure they'll fight. And if this movie does take place during CV then that could work.

Alice will probably be a big enemy. As long as they get a good Wesker (and other characters) and some cool, supernatural fight scenes, I'll be happy.

 

I only have 1 (director's cut) and 2 (dual shock) and I rented CV and am halfway through it (at the first Tyrant fight). I love them all.

Now according to Milla Jovovich, the movie is still called Afterlife. Adding to that, she said that filming will start in March, the movie will not end in Japan -as rumored- and the movie will be like Mad Max meets Resident Evil.

 

I myself have never seen Mad Max so I can't say if I like the idea or not.

 

Setting the record straight, Milla Jovovich recently insisted the third "Resident Evil" film will be called "Afterlife" instead of "Extinction," and that reports (including those on her own Web site) of the film concluding in Japan are bogus. "I don't get to go on the Web site all the time and make sure things are right, but it doesn't end in Japan, that's for sure," Jovovich grinned. "We're gonna start filming in March, and it's really cool. The script is great; it's different and it's got some really interesting elements to it. It's going to be very different than any of the other 'Resident Evil's. ... It's gonna be like 'Resident Evil' meets 'Mad Max.' "

Ali Larter will be playing Claire Redfield, Ashanti will be playing a new character called Nurse Betty, Chris Egan will be playing a new character called Mikey, Jamie Patrick Millar will be playing a new character called Evan (not in the link) and Spencer Locke will play an as-of-yet unknown girl found in the ruins of a Kmart (rumors of Sherry Birkin. Link). Also, all main characters from RE: Apocalypse have been confirmed for this movie with the exception of Sophie Vavasseur who plays Angela Ashford.

 

Claire will be in it!!! I'm all too excited over this movie. Can't wait to see Claire in action! Plus if she's in it, there's a chance that Chris will be there too.

the sad thing is that there is Claire, but no Leon or Chris. With the popularity of RE4 and the anticipation of RE5, I was hoping for Leon or Chris. Atleast Carlos will return, my favorite character from RE3

Even though filming started a few days ago, Chris and a bunch of different characters could still pop up. He could possibly be a secret character who no-one knows about until they see the movie, or they haven't cast him or announced his character yet. Leon too. He would be great. I still want to see Wesker.

June 29, 2006 - This week at the Hollywood and Video Games Summit in Beverly Hills, we got a chance to talk to the keynote speaker, filmmaker Paul W.S. Anderson. The director, famous for adapting videogames to film, talked briefly about the third movie in the Resident Evil trilogy, Resident Evil: Extinction.

 

 

 

"My concept behind the trilogy of movies I always imagined making was: the first movie would be a prequel to the very first game. It would tell the back story of the videogame world. The second movie would be set kind of intertwined with what was happening in Raccoon City. And then the third movie would be like a post script to the world of the videogame," Anderson explained.

 

"So the third movie, Resident Evil: Extinction is set several years in the future and it's pretty much after the Umbrella Corporation has failed to control the outbreaks of the T-Virus and the world has literally been wiped out. There's very little humanity left and a handful of human survivors are traveling around the remnants of the world in these heavily armored convoys and what they do is they go to the least populated parts of the world, because they figure that's where the least undead will be, and they travel in these heavily armored trucks and customized rolling fortresses—it's very Road Warrior--at high speed so that the undead don't get anywhere near them. So that's where the movie takes place, primarily in the deserts of Nevada and around Las Vegas. But of course, it's a Las Vegas that has kind of fallen now, because what's happened is, with no one to take care of it, the desert has come back in and half-buried Vegas. So… we built all these casinos which are sort of buried in the sand.

 

"We built… parts of Paris [the casino]. So we built a chunk of the Eiffel Tower, but half-buried in sand. It's really spectacular."

That was the old IMDB storyline. If you read the article above, you see the real story, from Paul himself. They couldn't control the outbreak so now the world is in ruins. Kind of like Reign of Fire with zombies.

The movies are an alternate timeline from the games. They're basically the Resident Evil games retold from Paul Anderson's eyes.

 

Plus, Wesker is trying to bring back Umbrella. Not the company itself, but what the company stood for; greed and corruption and lots and lots of money. Plus evil deeds, but that's in the game storyline. RE5 will finish Wesker and Umbrella off.

But it is around in RE4 -- Krauser mentions Umbrella to Leon at the end of their knife fight. I assumed that both he and Ada were working for Umbrella. At least that's what I thought after Krauser's comment and Ada flying off with the sample.

I noticed on IMDB's website that it says that Peter O'Meara will be playing Albert Wesker, but I see no mention of Chris
