Takara_Soong 4 Posted September 13, 2005 (edited) Data had a name?well, it wasnt really a name, more of a computer term 350728[/snapback] I too have always thought of his name being "the Doctor". I can understand why it was so difficult for him to choose one. It took me ages to decide on a first name I liked for my screen name. LOL As for Data, it was his name. An excerpt from the script of the episode The Child: PULASKI: Data, (she says "Data" with a short A) look at this.DATA: (he corrects her) Data. PULASKI: What? DATA: My name. It is pronounced Data. PULASKI: Oh? DATA: You called me Data. PULASKI: What's the difference? DATA:One is my name and the other is not. Lynx 0 Posted October 2, 2005 In some of the early Voyager books, he is called Dr.Zimmermann and I think that would have been a great name for him.
Matt 0 Posted October 2, 2005 Dr. Zimmerman was the name of the program creator. I doubt he would have wanted thousands of holograms around with the same name as him, would have been quite confusing if nothing else.
Lynx 0 Posted October 3, 2005 Only the Voyager Doc should have that name, the others could have other names.
KIMIMELA 1 Posted October 3, 2005 (edited) He looks like a Paul or a Peter. Or a Ricky. Yeah, Ricky. "I'm a doctor, not a Database!" - The Doctor. Edited October 3, 2005 by xXTrekkieCaraXx
prometheus 0 Posted October 6, 2005 The doctor probably did deserve a name, but it was more fun and elusive to refer to him as The Doctor however. It made him seem special and one off. Not like Doctor Who tho, who was also called The Doctor. Hair, maybe, he deserved, as a thinning man myself, if i was a hologram i would just type it in - More Hair please...
