This show is well known for its turnover. Only four characters have appeared in every season: Jack Bauer, Tony Almeida, Senator/President David Palmer, and Agent Aaron Pierce (Secret Service).

 

Pierce is just a background character played by Glenn Morshower (Pel Orton in Starship Mine, Enterprise-B officer in Generations, and Lt. Burke in Peak Performance, Sheriff MacReady in North Star, and a Mokra guard in Resistance) but he is a fan favourite.

 

Quite a few new characters are coming up in Season 5, played by Jean Smart, Sean Astin, Connie Britton, and Brady Corbet.
