Your favorite unicorn story?

Recommended Posts

Actually I do have a favorite unicorn story. It's my sister's story really.

A couple of years ago her granddaughter told her she wanted a horse for Christmas. My sister carefully explained all the expense, time etc that would go with a horse and that she just couldn't afford one.

My niece then replied "Can I have a unicorn then?"

My sister said she just didn't have the heart to answer that one. I guess of course that could open a great moral debate - should you tell the little ones there are no unicorns, fairies etc.

One day I showed I showed this little girl my unicorn collection - including a little unicorn her mom had made for me when she was a little girl.

I also have a very tragic unicorn story. It's when I lived in the West, in a basement apartment. We had strong winds that blew open the window and the object sitting in the window crashed onto the unicorns on the shelf below - there were little horns and hooves everywhere - very sad.

So do you have a unicorn story?

No story.

I did love the Far Side cartoon in which it explains how they became extinct.

The Lions ate them on Noah's Ark!! :dude:

Also, Kenny Loggins has a great song about The Last Unicorn on his Return to Pooh Corner CD.

Here are the lyrics:

When the last eagle flies, over the last crumbling mountain

And the last lion roars, at the last dusty fountain

In the shadow of the forest, though she may be old and worn

They will stare unbelieving

At the last unicorn

When the first breath of winter, throught the flowers is icing

And you look to the north, and a pale moon is rising

And it seems like all is dying, and would leave the world to mourn

In the distance hear her laughter

It’s the last unicorn

I’m alive....... I’m alive

When the last moon is cast, over the last star of morning

And the future is past, without even a last desparate warning

Then look into the sky where through, the cloudes a path is formed

Look and see her how she shimmers, it’s the last unicorn

I’m alive... I’m alive!!!!

Was there not a Irish group that had a hit song about unicorns in the sixties. I remember a cartoon movie The Last Unicorn; my oldest son who was very young at the time cried at the end of the movie. That is a touching memory for this old dad

It was The Irish Rovers.

It was called The Unicorn song.

It was about noah collecting aminals for the ark and why there are no

unicorns today they were to busy playing in the rain.

(green alligators and long neck geese some humpty back camels

and some chimpanzes some cats and rats and elephants

but sure as your born your never going to see a unicorn)

The chours to the song. why i still remember this?

I like the band "The Unicorns". They are so excellent. That's my favourite story: "I was born a Unicorn". I listen to it with my friend who is gay. It's enjoyable.

the_unicorns,0.jpg <----- Wicked band! They are so much fun.

No personal unicorn stories but have always loved the book, "The Last Unicorn". The images of the red bull charging at the unicorn and the unicorns overcoming the fortress as they leave the sea are unforgettable.
