Martok & Gowron Actors Release 'Kling Bling' CD

Recommended Posts

Former Deep Space Nine recurring actors J.G. Hertzler (Martok) and Robert O'Reilly (Gowron) recently exchanged their Bat'leths for microphones in order to record an album of hiphop music called Kling Bling.

The CD was officially unveiled during a mini-convention last weekend in Düsseldorf, Germany, hosted by the European Elite Force Clan. Hertzler was the star guest at the event, along with Reiner Schöne, a German actor who portrayed Esoqq in the TNG episode "Allegiance." Herzler answered questions from fans and signed copies of the CD, which is also currently available from the Elite Force Clan's web site for a price of €24.50. The clan's web site revealed little information about the album, beyond the fact it contains a song called "Where da Klingons, baby?"

Hertzler and O'Reilly have been working together for a while, appearing as a duo at many Trek conventions, where they have also performed early versions of their Klingon rap. According to an old convention report on the official Star Trek site, one of their songs has the refrain "If there's a problem, yo / We'll resolve it / Kill 'em all first / That's the only way to solve it."

With Kling Bling, the two former DS9 actors are joining a long line of Trek stars who have recorded music albums. William Shatner (James T. Kirk) and Leonard Nimoy (Spock) started the trend with songs such as Mr. Tambourine Man and The Ballad Of Bilbo Baggins, and Brent Spiner (Data) joined in the fun with a recording called Old Yellow Eyes Is Back. More recently, Tim Russ (Tuvok) released two albums of guitar rock, and Shatner got back in the game with an album called Has Been. Only last month, Cirroc Lofton (Jake Siko) announced he's working on a rap album of his own, called Divine Intervention.
