Translation Game!

vulqan jIyIn = I live (on?) Vulcan.

Please don’t treat the language like there is no “on” at this point. I would think that there is a very good chance that there is a word for “on” (or a suffix).

I'm not sure if thats the right order..I'm half asleep and have forgotten almost everything..

 That's ok, trekkergirl220!! I've forgotten everything too!! On this one, did you mean DujDaj matu'?? If that's it, it would be 'we find his ship,' I think.

Anyway, let me know if that's right. I'll do another one:

I only used words from lessons 1 and 2. It's a very simple sentance to translate. It's just long because it's got 'ej in it to join sentances together. Just break it down into 5 sections (break at each 'ej) and translate them. I didn't use any fancy grammer and I only used stuff from lessons 1 and 2. I included the translation for 'ej so you wouldn't have to look it up.

Give it a shot and when your finished you'll see how easy it was

I visit your Klingon home and I do not see small trees and I write large words and I visit my home and I want that I sleep.

Thats perfect  Great job!! majQa'!

The part "vIQong 'e' vIneH" that you translated as "I want that I sleep" can be said another way in English. Normally we would say "I want to sleep". When you see "'e'" it's actually acting as a pronoun that refers to the previous sentance. In this case the two sentances are:

vIQong and 'e' vIneH

vIQong means I sleep

'e' vIneH means I want that

So the translation of "vIQong" fits into object slot of "'e' vIneH". So the translation is "I want I sleep" or "I want to sleep". Hope that makes sense.

Well I've been learning it for over ten years and have been in the KLI for about 6 of those. I helped translate google into Klingon and have tried to help people learn the language. I also spent a day with Marc Okrand and got him drunk. Thats about my only claim to tlhIngan Hol fame.
