HRH The KING 0 Posted February 1, 2005 The US military recognizes the need for councilors for their service members. Yeah, but it's only a TV show. If you applied military standards to Star Trek then they wouldn't be carrying children either. As far as Guinan, she is very limited in what she can do as far as helping a person. If the person has mental problems Guinan would not be the person would go for help, because she is not trained to deal in these matters. She is after a good listener and a bartender. But she was El-Aurian, and they were pretty mysterious. It could have been written into the storyline that people of her race are inherantly capable of helping people with emotional issues. Plus, if a person had a mental problem, I don't think they would be selected for duty in Starfleet, especially not on the Federation's flagship.

There are many issues that one would face in space that an untrain person would not know how to handle no matter what they have inherant from their people. In must case the mental problem I am refering to those related to the mission. There are instances where some mental problems that would appear until that sitution presents itself. HRH The KING 0 Posted February 1, 2005 (edited) Yeah, but having a qualified counsellor on board simply takes away potential drama. It's better to have a story where someone snaps and goes insane rather than seeing the ship's counsellor. For example, the episode "The Wounded". Would it have been a better episode if Captain Ben Maxwell snapped and booked an appointment with a therapist, or was it more compelling when he took his ship and started wasting Cardassians forcing the Enterprise to hunt him down? Johnnyflash 0 Posted July 18, 2005 Hey i was wondering that everyone thought of Deanna and Wills Relationship in the Series to the movies??? For the show i think it was good because they weren't sure if they wanted to be together but at least they were best of friends and could tell each other ANYTHING. However in the movies, it took 4 movies for them to finally do something and thanks to Insurrection they finally got MARRIED in Nemesis. and in the book Imzadi they told of how the relationship got started and all the steamy details and the reason Riker left being he got caught having sex with Deanna's friend (while intoxicated) after Lwaxanna yelled at Riker. Then in Imzadi 2 Worf left Deanna because her and Riker's love was just too strong for him to compeat with.. *because he used his mind to find Deanna, Worf and Alexander who were kidnapped and thousands of light years away... aww how cute  now what are your insights 27490[/snapback] hrmm it wasnt Deanna's friend it was Wendy roper.. The federation abassador's to Betazed's daughter
peggy 0 Posted July 18, 2005 When I saw Issurrection I thought, what's gotten into them? God forbid Riker could actually return affection. On the other hand if she didn't look like she was going to burst into tears everytime she talks to him alone maybe he would. Ok maybe I exaggerated, but you know what I mean. I love them both and was really happy they finally got married.
