Whats your anthem?

Recommended Posts

Let Me See by Clannad. It didn't occur to me till I was listening to it tonight how perfectly the words fit where I am in my life right now.

Music of the Night

Click For Spoiler
Music: Andrew Lloyd Webber

Lyrics: Charles Hart

Additional Lyrics: Richard Stillgoe

Based on the novel by Gaston Leroux

Night time sharpens

Heightens each sensation

Darkness wakes

And stirs imagination

Silently the senses

Abandon their defenses

Helpless to resist the notes I write

For I compose the music of the night

Slowly, gently

Night unfurls its splendor

Grasp it, sense it

Tremulous and tender

Turn your face away

From the garish light of day

Turn your thoughts away from cold unfeeling light And listen to the music of the night

Close your eyes

And embelish on your darkest dreams,

Purge all thoughts of the life you knew before,

Close your eyes, let your spirit start to soar

And you'll live like you've never lived before

Softly, deftly

Music shall caress you

Hear it, feel it

Secretly possess you

Open up your mind

Let your fantasies unwind

In this darkness which you know you cannot fight

The darkness of the music of the night

Let your mind start a journey through a strange new world,

leave all thoughts of the world you knew before,

let your soul take you where you long to be,

only then can you belong to me.

Floating, falling

Sweet intoxication

Touch me, trust me

Savor each sensation

Let the dream begin

Let your darker side give in

To the power of the music that I write

The power of the music of the night

You alone can make my song take flight

Help me make the music of the night

I have a few.. but of the moment, "Taking Over Me" by Evanescence seems to be current focus one.

...

i lie awake and try so hard not to think of you

but who can decide what they dream?

and dream i do...

i believe in you

i'll give up everything just to find you

i have to be with you to live to breathe

you're taking over me...

A selection from the song.

There are sections of My Immortal and Bring Me To Life, also by Evanescence, that make a bunch of sense for me too. But then again, I just adore the songs. (Ok, so I really like the Fallen album, as well as Anywhere But Home.)

Also: Reflections from the soundtrack of Lost Horizon.

When you look at yourself do you like what you see?

If you like what you see, you're the person you should be.

'Cause your reflection reflects in everything you do,

and everything you do reflects on you.

When you wake up each day do you like how you feel?

If you like how you feel, you've got nothing to conceal.

'Cause your reflection reflects in everything you do,

and everything you do reflects on you.

Doing something for someone else isn't really for someone else.

It does twice as much for you as something you do just for yourself.

When you lay down to sleep do you like all your dreams?

If you like all your dreams, life's as happy as it seems.

'Cause your reflection reflects in everything you do,

and everything you do reflects on you.

I am an "old hippie". I am very much attached to the ballads and folk songs of the sixties and early seventies. Those songs will tell you very much about who I am.

It really depends on my mood. Here's a short list:

  • the theme to Star Trek Enterprise (prefer the original version)
  • Resikan flute music from The Inner Light
  • In My Life by the Beatles
  • I Will Remember You by Sarah McLaughlin
  • Consequence Free by Great Big Sea
  • I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues by Elton John
  • Watching the Wheels by John Lennon
  • Imagine by John Lennon
  • I'm So Bored With The USA by The Clash (nothing personal to my American friends)
  • God Save The Queen by the Sex Pistols
  • Teacher by George Michael
