Guest Ktrek Posted March 23, 2004 (edited) Inspired by posting some help to another fan today, who got his browser infected with a hijacking software program, I thought I might post these links for programs that can help keep your PC clean of spyware. OH! You didn't know your movements on the web are being watched by someone? Well you are unless you do some things to protect yourself! I suggest downloading and installing all the software that I provide links for. Also, the sites that scan your PC are safe and often detect stuff that my virus scan software or spyware software has missed. I hope everyone will take advantage of this information and keep Big Brother at bay! Folllow these links and download the software and run them and clean off any files that they show as adware. SpyBot: http://www.safer-networking.org/ Adaware: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/ Spywareguard: http://www.spychecker.com/download/downloa...ywareguard.html SpywareBlaster: http://www.spychecker.com/program/spywareblaster.html CWShredder: http://209.133.47.200/~merijn/files/CWShredder.exe Run these Anti-virus sites also. They do a check from online and work very well. I have had them find stuff that McAfee's missed. Be sure to check "autoclean" so it cleans off any infected files. Housecall: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp RAV: http://www.ravantivirus.com/scan/indexie.php ActiveScan: http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/ Note to everyone on the board. If you are not using these great programs do so now! Many of you will be amazed at how much spyware and stuff is installed on your PC without your knowledge. Firewalls help but are not effective against spyware picked up on the web. You also may want to check out this security website just to have more understanding: http://grc.com/default.htm Ktrek Edited March 24, 2004 by Ktrek

mj 7 Posted March 23, 2004 Alas, most of it is not designed to include the lowly MAC users....
icanreadyourmind 0 Posted March 24, 2004 Ya I use spybot all the time...I like it cause it has an Immunization feature that blocks you from viruses you allready have deleted.
fenriz275 0 Posted March 24, 2004 I use spybot and ad aware. For p2p which usually has a lot of spyware I use soulseek and Kazaa lite, which are spyware free. Since I stopped using regular Kazaa I haven't had much of a problem with spyware, other than those pesky cookies. Would have thought cookies would ever become a bad thing.

fenriz275 0 Posted March 25, 2004 I hate that nasty spyware, cleaned out my pc this afternoon as a matter of fact. Always a good idea to do a regular cleaning, it slows down your pc and my paranoia demands it. you're watching me right now aren't you?
