trekkergirl220 0 Posted April 20, 2003 This isn't like a major discussion topic or anything, but i just have a question, what episode was datas poem "Ode to spot" in? I remember the poem was hilarious, but i don't remember the episode. Was the actual episode any good?
RikerChick 5 Posted April 20, 2003 I can't even remember the poem. Does anyone have the poem?
trekkergirl220 0 Posted April 20, 2003 OMG its so funny- I think master Q posted a trivia question about it a while back and put the poem on the post- let me see if I can find it
trekkergirl220 0 Posted April 20, 2003 Okay i found it- its on trivia question #20 which master_q posted here it is: Felis Cattus, is your taxonomic nomenclature, an endothermic quadruped carnivorous by nature? Your visual, olfactory and auditory senses contribute to your hunting skills, and natural defenses. I find myself intrigued by your subvocal oscillations, a singular development of cat communications that obviates your basic hedonistic predilection for a rhythmic stroking of your fur, to demonstrate affection. A tail is quite essential for your acrobatic talents; you would not be so agile if you lacked its counterbalance. And when not being utilized to aide in locomotion, it often serves to illustrate the state of your emotion. O Spot, the complex levels of behaviour you display connote a fairly well-developed cognitive array. And though you are not sentient, Spot, and do not comprehend, I nonetheless consider you a true and valued friend and its great the way Data reads it! lol so does anyone know the episode this is from? Takara_Soong 4 Posted April 21, 2003 Too me that is one of the best pieces of poetry ever written!!! It's right up there with the great opera "Kill the Rabbit" from Bugs Bunny.
Yillara Skye 1 Posted April 21, 2003 "Spear and magic helmet??"-Bugs "Yes, Magic Helmet, and I'll give you a sample"-Elmer "Oh Brunhilda, you're so lovely."-Elmer "Yes, I know it, I can't help it"-Bugs "What did you expect in an opera, a happy ending??" I LOVE this poem! I even have two copies of it hanging in my room. One is the original and the other have the name of my own cat (kiki) in it.
dsbs 0 Posted April 21, 2003 Too me that is one of the best pieces of poetry ever written!!! It's right up there with the great opera "Kill the Rabbit" from Bugs Bunny. hmm...maybe I should to an Ode to Fudge (my dog) What was the bugs bunny poem?? I thought Ode to Spot was quite sweet. And Geordi was saying that all it was was "clever". I'm sorry Geordi, but that time youy were wrong.
Takara_Soong 4 Posted April 21, 2003 Too me that is one of the best pieces of poetry ever written!!! It's right up there with the great opera "Kill the Rabbit" from Bugs Bunny. What was the bugs bunny poem?? Not a poem. They did an episode of Bugs Bunny as a tragic opera. I can't remember which opera it was based on but it was really funny! I remember seeing an interview with a music professor and he was talking about a class he had taught on opera. He asked his students what the first opera they were exposed to was. He says half the class broke out in song "kill the wabbit kill the wabbit".
dsbs 0 Posted April 21, 2003 LOL!! My first opera was.....actually, I dont think I;ve ever seen one. I tend to avoid them like the plague...

Takara_Soong 4 Posted April 21, 2003 What's Opera, Doc? - Bugs Bunny Broomhilda or Witch Hazel
A l t e r E g o 9 Posted April 21, 2003 Granted Bugs is not dressed the same as the Broom Hilda in the picture but during the What’s Opera Doc cartoon I remember Elmer sings a vs. (partial; "Oh Broom Hilda, yours so ruvly". That is why I thought it might based on a play of the same name.

VaBeachGuy 12 Posted September 4, 2004 I can't even remember the poem. ^_^ Does anyone have the poem? 11719[/snapback] I'm sure you've heard it by now I thought I'd bump this and add the poem's audio file to it. This is an old version flash file I did so the only button that works is the play button, but you can hear it at last. http://www.startrekfans.net/pics/swf/ode.swf
