  1. "You know Aaron, all you had to do was bang the wood on the stump with the axe still in it. It would have split and that would have been the end of it." Lida said as she cut into her hamsteak. "You a city boy, Aaron?" She asked. :)

  2. Lida looked at the cured ham and decided it would take too long to bake so she looked for a carving knife to cut it into steaks. The girls came back in loaded with wood in their arms. "Throw some more wood in the stove will you?" She asked and the girls began piling the wood inside the open door of the stove. Just then Aaron came downstairs. Scratching and yawning. He had been asleep at least 8 hours and felt refreshed now. "What cha cookin?" He asked Lida. He walked up behind her and put his arm around her waist. "Not in front of the girls, Aaron." She said softly as she tended the steaks in the skillet. 'Go help peel some sweet potatos so we can eat, alright?" Lida asked him. "Nope, that's woman's work. I'll go chop some wood or somethin." He answered as he went out the back door. Lida heard the generator start and she knew he was back on the site.

  3. According to the map there was a small landing and refueling station just North of Angola. Just a few miles away. "This won't take long." She told the girls. It seemed as soon as they took off they landed again. Lida hopped out after taxiing right up to the gas pump. She filled the tanks, climbed back in and they took off again. Within minutes they were back at the farm and landing on the road in front of the house. "Well, that was fun." Taffita said. "When can I do it?" With the sun dissapearing now down behind the trees Lida told her "Maybe tomorrow, alright?" She told the girls. "It'll be dark soon. Not a good time right now. We need to get supper started anyway, you hungry?" She asked. "Starved." The said in unison. "Well, let's get at it then." Lida said as they all got out of the plane and walked back to the house.

Back in the kitchen now Lida asked the girls what they wanted to eat. "We got any ham?" Taffita asked. "Sure, we got plenty a ham in the meat cellar." Addie told her. Down the ladder they climbed, Lida followed. The girls went to pick out a ham and Lida began collecting the vegetables from baskets in the other part of the cellar. "Hmm, sweet potatos and maybe some green beans." She decided outloud. She gathered up a half dozen from the basket then a couple mason jars of green beans. The girls came up to her Addie holding a nice ham shoulder. back up to the kitchen they went to fire up the stove. "We need more wood, we're getting low here." Lida said as she pointed to the nearly empty wood bin next to the stove. "I'll go." Taffita said. Addie followed her outside to the stacked woodpile.

  4. Lida went to her room and Aaron went to his. They both took a nap. After about four hours Lida woke to a familiar yet unexpected sound. The engine of the Piper. "What tha?" She said to herself as she ran down the stairs and out the back door. She definately heard the plane's engine.

She ran out to where she had parked it in the back of the farm. When she got to it she saw Taffita and Addie sitting inside, the propeller whirring around. "Lordy, Lordy, Lordy." She said to herself as she walked up to the pilot's side door and opened it. "Taffita? what do you think your doing?" She asked as she reached in and turned off the Master switch. "I wasn't going anywhere Lida. I just wanted to see how it worked." Taffita said. "Well, you might have asked first. I would have shown you." Lida said. "Well, will you?" Taffita then asked. "Sure, why not. Might come in handy someday for you to know how to fly." Both girls giggled. "Scoot over. Get in the seat with Addie, I'll show you." Lida said as she climbed in. She went through all the guages and knobs and dials. then showed them the check list they have to go through each time before taking off. "Can we go for a ride Lida?" Addie asked. "Yea, let's go for a ride." Taffita asked too. "Sure, why not." Lida said and began the pre-flight. "Maybe we could go get fuel somewhere while were up anyway, were low." The girls began to chatter as Lida did the pre-flight and showed them what to do. Then Lida started the engine and drove out to the road in front of the house to take off.

  5. Nature versus nurture is a popular phrase used to describe debates over the relative degrees to which one's genetic makeup ("nature") and one's life experiences ("nurture") influence one's traits and behavior. A wide variety of characteristics have been considered in such debates, including personality, sexual orientation, gender identity, political orientation, intelligence, and propensity for violence or criminality.

Although "nurture" may have historically referred mainly to the care given to children by their parents, any environmental (not genetic) factor also would count as "nurture" in a contemporary nature versus nurture debate, including one's childhood friends, one's early experiences with television, and one's experience in the womb. Indeed, a substantial source of environmental input to human nature may arise from stochastic variations in prenatal development. Additionally, although childhood experience (especially early childhood experience) is often regarded as more influential in who one becomes than post-childhood experience, a liberal interpretation of "nurture" might count all life experience as "nurture".

  6. I'm afraid with our feeble little minds we weren't meant to understand, just guess alot. We can speculate all we want but we will never know OR understand. We are all just spinning our wheels. Go eat some chocolate and forget about it. :) Good Lord! I sound like Tido :) :) :)

  7. Very Cool Pic Odie. But what I meant was how can one MAKE a rock. This stuff is already there. The rock is just formed. I mean how do the raw materials get formed and from where do they come? Then where do the molecules come from? Then where do the atoms come from? Something doesn't come from nothing. Where does it all begin?

I have been having that debate since my freshman year of high school. Some would say it was just created by God and it has not changed or won't change. Other believe that God created the basic building blocks of life and let it go from there. Than there is the big bang theory. That something did come from nothing. I believe the truth is somewhere in between the theory of creation and evolution.

Everything that is on this planet is made up of basic elements. Without them there is no life. Here is periodic table.

I hate to do this but..."WHERE DID THE BASIC ELEMENTS COME FROM???" :)

  8. Room by room, they inspected. Lida sat on then layed down on each huge bed. As did Aaron. "I want the softest mattress in the house." She told him. "They look and feel like they are made of feathers don't they?" Aaron asked her. "Yea, that could be a problem for me. I get all stuffy when I sleep on a down pillow. What's a whole mattress going to do to me." She asked him. "Well, you could cover it with 3 or 4 quilts before you lay down on it, that might help." He suggested. "There is certainly no shortage of quits with 8 bedrooms." He added. When Aaron started up the steps to the third floor, Lida stopped him. "Let's let the girls have the upper floor to themselves. Gives them a bit more space away from us." She asked him. "Hmm, never thought of that." He answered. "O.K., so which room are you taking?" He asked her. "I think I'll take the room on the West side of the house in the front. I like to sleep late once in a while and the sun will wake me with the chickens besides I like the sound of the generator whirring. It makes me sleepy." She told him. 'That sounds like a plan. I'll take the one right next to it. For those very same reasons. Plus the fact I'll be closer to you." He told her. They looked at each other. :) :) :)

  9. Since Aaron and Lida sat in the loft most of the night on the computers they were exhausted. And after that huge breakfast of omletes and bacon, coffee bread, peaches and cream and cranberry juice they were staggering around they were so sleepy. The girls decided to both go to the loft and get on the site. Aaron went back out and turned the generator on for them and showed them how to do it. With all the animals fed, watered, milked and happy now the rest of the day was free.

"I'm going upstairs and decide which bedroom I want, you coming?" She asked him. " Yea, sleeping in the loft and in the parlor has lost it's charm I think." He said. "Come on, let's go." She said as she started up the stairs. Aaron followed.

  10. The rooster crowed in the barn below them and they heard Addie and Taffita talking. "You have to take all these eggs out of the nests. If you don't, they won't lay again. Put them in the basket, then we have to milk the cows. We must milk them every morning, understand Taffy?" Addie said. "Um, yea." Taffita answered. "Need any help down there you two?" Lida called from the loft. "No, we can do this, we will be fine." Addie answered. A few minutes later Lida and Aaron could hear the milk squirting into the buckets below them. "Hey, stop that Taffy!" Addie yelled. Apparently Taffita thought it was funny to aim one of the cow teets at her and squirt her in the face. Now they were both doing it and laughing hysterically. The cows started mooing loudly amoungst the laughter. "Come on, hurry, we need to milk the goats too you know and feed the horses and the mules." Addie told her. Aaron and Lida just giggled at their antics. :(
