  1. May I just speak up for Mr Keating here. I was there too just for Connor and by the end of the weekend Dominic had taken the piss out of me something rotten for it. I had a marvellous time with him constantly shouting insults when he saw me in line and I think Connor appreciated someone else taking the heat of Dominic's merciless teasing. It was all incredibly good humoured - they are both wonderful and last weekend is not one I am going to forget in a hurry. :naughty:

  2. I not only enjoyed Enterprise from the beginning - I thought that Broken Bow was easily the best Series opener ever - and that includes TNG. On balance I think TNG is still the better show but Enterprise is getting there - and now thank God they have another season to prove themselves. I would love to see TPTB open the show up to fan input again - even if they never use any of the scripts - they would get an idea of where the 'consumers' out here see the show and the characters going and could build on that.

  3. Well a ton of people got killed at the end of Azati Prime and we don't know who yet - so maybe we've already lost someone. Who know's what they might do before the end but you won't hear any blubbing from this corner of the galaxy if T'Pol gets it.

As an aside I hope they use the losses in Damage to pay some kind of tribute to Crewman Cutler - perhaps giving her life to save another?

  4. I agree it's a shame that Hatchery isn't scheduled to air again - I think it's been my favourite episode so far this season. And I don't know how much I am looking forward to seeing Damage if certain spoilers I have read turn out to the case. :(

  5. I had high hopes in the beginning for the triad of characters that reflected the old TOS one of Kirk/Spock/McCoy but it has not been any further developed this season which is a shame. Even more of a shame is that they have introduced a completely inappropriate and unbelievable slant at a romantic relationship between Trip and T'Pol which ruins the Spock / McCoy like bickering that would have eventually developed into true respect and friendship.

I agree with all the negative comments made about T'Pol above. If all they wanted was a sex kitten to improve ratings by wearing wholly inappropriate outfits and getting her kit off they shouldn't have cast a Vulcan - it's an insult to the longest standing and IMO most interesting of Trek's universe of species.

  6. Very well put Trinneergirl - I agree that it does seem ridiculous that T'Pol is still in her old job and the writer's haven't even bothered to reference the decision making that went on to allow this. Trip seems unconcerned and after having it done to him once in the first ever show one would have thought he might have had something to say about her retaining the position. (Although in Hatchery he did try to relinquish the position in Reed's favour didn't he?). As Ktrek observed - the fact that she is still First Officer after all that has happened is down to Archer's failure to notice anything wrong.

  7. Some interesting thoughts! And I realise that it went the way it did because Archer is the lead and for the purpose of the story they couldn't send anyone else.

I voted for Mayweather actually. Archer's (lame) excuse for taking the mission was that he wouldn't order anyone else to die - well he had two volunteers off the bat - Mayweather and Trip. Archer should never have sacrificed himself - as Captain he is too crucial to the mission, the ship and the crew. Similarly Trip is not expendible. If there had been more time a MACO would be ideal - just in case of capture (I assume they will have better training in interrogation techniques etc). So I go with Mayweather - he volunteered, had the appropriate experience and there are others who can take the helm.

  8. Well I haven't read any spoilers and my guess is that Archer will now be separated from the ship for some time and eventually end up making some kind of deal with the Xindi via Degra. How the ship gets over the attack will be a kind of sub plot until the tearful reunion with its Captain and we will find out what is going on with her ladyship. Some kind of peace will have to be struck because without a heck of a lot of Xindi help that ship isn't going to get round the corner for sweeties let alone home!

And yet I still can't see how they will finish any other way than Archer doing something to 'correct' the timeline which will mean the whole situation never occured. Now that we have first contact documented with the Xindi and the mention that they serve in the Federation in the future it will take some clever writing to explain why we never hear of them for the next 300 years.

I love the idea of Daniels turning up with the cavalry though - a bit like the end of Star Trek IV.

  9. Can't argue with that - there are five (originally six) species of Xindi only linked by the fact that they developed simultaneously on one planet. They are closely linked at the genetic level as pointed out by Phlox but to call them sub species is incorrect. This infers that there is a dominant species to which the others are subordinate and there has been nothing to suggest this is the case.

For it's ecosystem to have devloped in this way Xindia (or whatever it was called) must have been a pretty unique place.

  10. Yep there is definitely something affecting the girl! And now that this has finally become obvious it makes me realise how subtley this plotline has been developed over the season - I knew there had to be an excuse for her infuriating behaviour! But really if they didn't want a Vulcan why have one in the first place or is she destined to spend the rest of the run re-discovering her Vulcanicity in a kind of reversal of the 7 of 9 role? - actually that might be quite interesting!

  11. Yes I would go and see it - of course I would. But I cannot imagine a TNG film without Data. Killing him off was a sad and in my opinion misguided decision. I can't see where they can go with B4 that would be interesting and making a clone of Data out of him would just defeat the object of killing him off. So yes I'll be there - but crying into my popcorn.

  12. I really like this storyline and think they have been very brave in stringing it out the way they have and keeping us guessing. I think that Daniels can't be breaking the Temporal Prime Directive unless he's Starfleet - and as I haven't seen all the new episodes yet I suppose he may be and I just don't know it.

  13. That's a good point Bluecrystal - Trip looked a mess at the end of Similitude as you'd expect and it made me cross that the Sim incident was never referred to again except of course very feebly as part of he and T'Pol's pre-sex banter. I haven't seen Azati Prime yet but I will watch all the more closely now.

  14. I guess it depends on the kind of horror you mean. I am someone who hasn't watched one of the Alien movies because I know I can't handle it but I love a good bit of tension. I think Doctor's Orders was one of the best episodes this season - just scary enough to keep me on the edge of my seat. I know that probably is a bit tame for some of you real horror fans but I enjoyed it and funnily enough I didn't find Impulse scary at all. It's all a matter of definition I suppose.
