  1. It's in the startrek.com FAQ section, there is no explanation, they made it up foir the show, stardates don't exsist.

How are stardates calculated and is there a way I can convert today's date into a stardate?

According to Gene Roddenberry in "The Making of Star Trek," stardates were originally created "simply to keep from tying ourselves down to 2265 ... " and to make clear that Star Trek was set in the future. There wasn't a method used to calculate the date, but the producers of the original show did keep a rough track of stardates and there was some logic as to how they progressed. However, as the shows aired out of order from the production order, the stardates would sometimes go backwards. To address this problem, Roddenberry formulated a clever explanation that used a bit of scientific double talk to make stardates sound more plausible, i.e. they "adjust for shifts in relative time which occur due to the vessel's speed and space warp capability ... "

By the time Star Trek: The Next Generation was produced, another digit was added to the stardates. According to Michael and Denise Okuda's "Star Trek Chronology," Gene Roddenberry added the extra digit to show how long had passed between the Original Series and the new show. The first digit used was a 4 and the second digit designated the show's current season. The last three digits before the decimal point would increase from 000-999 according to where in the season the episode took place.

As stardates don't really correspond to anything in reality, fans have taken it upon themselves to come up with their own version of dating based on the standard calendar. By using the year, month, day approach, the day the first episode of Star Trek aired, September 8, 1966, would appear as 6609.08.

  2. so what does the cork do for the bat anyway?

Basicly you drill a hole in the top of a bat to make it lighter, and fill it in with cork or rubber or something light. Thus it looks like a normal bat bit on the sweet spot, right on the barrel, there is less mass so the bat speed is quicker and you hit the ball harder, and farther.

  3. This isn't really a collection but it could be considered one. I like to keep old newspapers from historical events. I have papers from my lifetime going back to the first Moon landing that my parents kept. I have papers from when Elvis died, Ronald Reagan's re-election in 1984 and various other big events of the past 34 years. The oldest paper I have is from when the Hindenburg exploded.

Yeah I do that too, so does everyone in my family. I keep them in a box under my coffee table, at some point i'm gonna frame them and put them on my wall.

  4. Sosa ejected after cork is found in shattered bat

CHICAGO -- Chicago Cubs star Sammy Sosa was ejected in the first inning of Tuesday night's game against Tampa Bay right when umpires found cork in his shattered bat.

The Cubs had runners at second and third when Sosa broke his bat with a grounder to second that at first appeared to drive in a run.

But crew chief Tim McClelland gathered with the other three umpires to examine the bat. Cubs manager Dusty Baker came out and the umpires showed the bat to him.

Mark Grudzielanek was sent back to third base, the run was wiped off the board and Sosa was ejected as he stood in the dugout.

Breif Bio: Colossus left the Ust-Ordynski Collective in Siberia to join Xavier's second group of X-MEN. He spent many years with them until his little sister Illyana became the first victim to the mutant plague known as the legacy virus. 6. I said Star Trek VI, it was the only I really felt content with, and didn't have a bunch of questions about afterward. Endgame wasn't that great, Nemesis was a great movie but the the "end" wasn't the "end". STVI had an end that made me say well if thats the last one it's okay by me.
