  1. you know, i was here on this very board sounding off on the issues of colonialism and the status of certain ... responsibilities, if you will - i may live in the fairest country in the world, but i am none too proud of our inherent ignorance, these days, either ... drinking water, anyone? guess i'm trying to apologize for standing on a soap-box - oh well - 'twas nice feeling taller, but that fall sure packs a smack...

    to my friends...

please, mod, beam me to OFF TOPIC, where my trigger happy writer forgot to post me...

  2. i tell you, this studying is for the birds - the summer can be the busiest semester for those of us with nerd blood, so do all forgive my extended absence - i miss you all terribly and look forward to coming out of academic stasis SOON - 'til then, or september, i bid you adieu, mon cher crew...

  3. i like a guy who isn't afraid of me, first off - then, i appreciate intelligence, one who has empathy, and passion - so far, no good, but i'm hoping one day that the right man will come along - until then, i keep to my studies and stay out of the "free for all" - sense and respectability, that's me...

Odie, you are a sweetheart, and deserve the very best - PERIOD.

UA, you have my heart forEVER - thank you, eh?

  4. gotta love gotabite - too true, mon dieu!!! and thank you gotabite, for having such candor - i have been busy with my finals, but have also been disheartened by the way some members respond to others - between admonishing PMs, bickering posts, and downright prejudice expressed by some members, i really haven't felt like coming around - i think it sucks, really...

    you know why?

as i write this, i KNOW that this post will be read, and i'll be told i'm the one with this problem, or that my attitude is poor, or that i should burn in hell for being...ahem - wonder why the posts are down? because STF.net ISN'T for all Trek fans, and some of us are really beginning to feel it... B)

  5. Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a high-school about 11 things that students did not and will not learn in school. He talked about how feel-good, politically correct teachings have created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how these teachings have set the kids up for failure in the real world.

Rule 01: Life is not fair - get used to it!

Rule 02: The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.

Rule 03: You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone; until you earn both.

Rule 04: If you think your teacher is tough, wait 'til you get a boss.

Rule 05: Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity.

Rule 06: If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.

Rule 07: Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you think you are. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parents' generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.

Rule 08: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.

Rule 09: Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.

Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.

Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.

If you can read this - Thank a teacher!

If you are reading it in English - Thank a VETERAN!

If you've gotten this far, thank my mamabear - I ask for a pep-talk, and get a bounty of wisdom - LOVES the mama...

    cheers all...

  6. i do not like cars - i think they are gross, and have refused to own one sicne i was seven - i live in the downtown core, mostly walk everywhere, and for my entire adult life have moved closer to wherever i need to be then...

that being said, my gas money goes to things like good food, saturday matinées, and keeping myself in nuts ... cashews, pralines - i find, even on a student income, that i can afford little extras 'cause i have no travelling expenses...

hmm, except for echinacea and vit c when i get a cold... :wow:

  7. i think men find farts funny because they're lettin'em out all the time, so they have to find it funny or else be embarrassed all the time...

i can't speak for women, however they might've been reared... :wow:

i can say that i love the diversity of postings, and, for me, farts will always have a warm spot somewhere in my body...

  8. YAYY, FARTING!!! i am laughing, i love the fart thread, LOVE IT - i love farts, i think they are almost as funny as when someone swears really loudly at an inappropriate time - in fact, inappropriate farting is the FUNNIEST farting of all - then again, there ARE appropriate times to fart - like, sometimes, you can fart at the end of your sentence, for emphasis - it's like a verbalized exclamation mark - always impresses - mm hmm...
